"Silent Night".  Written in 1818 by Franz Gruber and Joseph Mohr in Austria.  Simple melody.  Beautiful lyrics.  Summarizes the meaning of Christmas elegantly, and eloquently.  If perfection is possible on this rock, this song qualifies as perfect in every way.

I just listened to the version sung by Karen Carpenter.  Brought tears to my eyes, as always.

Merry Christmas to arfcom!

This one, performed by this trio of talented young ladies, has to rank somewhere near the top of my scale.

I'm not a big fan of Christmas songs, but, this one made an impression when I was young boy and first heard the Bing Crosby version on TV back in the 60's.
