Anyone interested in the birth of technical (mixed gas) diving in the 90s should read Simon Pridmore's "Technically Speaking".

Simon was a friend and dive buddy of my father. Dad was in FL in the early 90s learning and diving with a lot of the people in the book and was one of the first technical instructors in Australia and the pacific in the mid 90s.

Book is really fun reading. I’d read about the nitrox wars of the early 90s, but he goes into a lot of detail. Actually pretty funny when you think about it.

Yeah I'm really enjoying it and love the "tech talk" format. I got the privilege to take my first Nitrox dive with Billy Deans and my dad. Even though I was Nitrox certified through IANTD Billy quizzed me on the trip out to the wreck and would not let you dive if he felt you were not competent. Cool to be a part of that era.
