It was about $67. Apparently the locals buy it up. We saw a pretty big line forming at 945am (opens at 10am) and saw almost all of them walking back out with their 1 Blanton's.

After our first tour we went into the gift shop, bought some Weller swag and picked up one Blanton's a piece. They scan your i.d. and said one bottle per person every 3 months. But they set out different brands on different days so it is random.

We took the Trace tour then the Barrel tour. We had a great time. This top barrel was filled in 2007. I didn't ask but was very curious as to what it will be.

That's the story. 3 mashbills to choose from. But that particular barrel is going on 14 years old.

He said the top floors age fastest and are the cheap bourbons. Middle and lower are best for a slow age. And they don't rotate barrels. They know where to put them for the flavor but weather has a big effect.

It’s a really cool distillery to take a tour at. I hope you had Freddie as your guide. He’s the best guide there. We used to be able to get 1 bottle/week of Blanton’s, but I’m not mad they changed it so more people can enjoy it and less resellers hog it all up. That just means my stash is now for me and I can’t give it away as gifts.

I finally made it out there again this week and got another bottle of EH Taylor, so it didn’t hurt to finally kill my other bottle tonight.

Russell's reserve 10 year tonight. Not bad for under $40. Want to try the single barrel but I never see it in stock.

This thread makes me appreciate that the local guy, who seems to get a bunch of the good stuff in, likes me and generally gives me first shot at most of the good stuff.  There are even a couple really good bottle (one is an EHT barrel proof) that we haven't even put a price on yet, and may never will.  He also knows that I am buying to appreciate and drink and not resell.  Bought a bottle of Calumet Farms 14 year old and a bottle of Border Bourbon to help stock a friend's new bar.  They normally drink Crown in volume.  They really liked the Calumet Farms as a sipper on ice but will probably stick with the Crown due to cost.  They didn't seemed that impressed with the Border Bourbon.

Larceny Barrel Proof is $49.99 on the Ohio state stores list, but it must be a limited release as nowhere is it in stock currently.  It hits all your points otherwise though.

ARFCOM loves some Eagle Rare.

I think its mediocre at best.  Good on the tongue at first, blah middle, blah/mom-existent finish.

I can get New Riff Single Barrel Barrel Proof for $49.99 a bottle

Knob Creek store picks come in around the same price.

Besides that? I dunno, will be tough to find something that meets that criteria and is a quality product.

Eagle Rare is the same mash bill as Buffalo Trace, GTS, Stagg Jr and EH Taylor. I love the stuff as does my wife. EHT is better but harder to find and usually more expensive. It all depends on where that barrel is and how long it sits.

I like your style Dude.

Pretty underwhelmed for a $35 bottle bourbon, let alone 10 year old bourbon. Kinda thin, lots of alcohol burn for a 90 proof, and finish is weak neat. Smell and initial taste is good, but I would be happier with Wild Turkey 101 or Russell's Reserve.

YMMV

Eagle Rare is my every day go to bourbon and there’s nothing under $50 I’d prefer. For $35-40 which is what I pay, it’s a bargain for essentially a 10 year old single barrel. 10-12 year old 90-96 proof bourbons are my favorite. If you live somewhere where it’s impossible to find and marked up 100% or more, I can’t help you. I never have fewer than 3-4 bottles in the house as I can get it any time.

I like your style too man, that whole western thing going on.

I think eagle rare is just supremely overrated. It's about $30/bottle and the big bottles are $42-44 I think.

To me, it isn't worth $30.  Russell's reserve, 4 Roses Single barrel, Sazerac Rye, are much better values IMO.

The last of my single barrel store pick of Buffalo Trace.

I believe thst was last years batch. I've got some of that left.

It is ridiculously good. An outstanding bottle.  Early on some critics knocked its lower proof before they tried it.  After they tried it it was a non-issue.

Be careful, it goes down very, very easy.  Good pick up.

Price is creeping up on it here in the past few months.  Used to be able to find it fairly easily for $33-38, but a few days ago I saw it at Total Wine for $43.  It's good and I try to keep a couple bottles on hand, but I have gotten to where I prefer higher proof stuff, especially in the winter.
