One of the biggest “wins” I’ve had as far as gun deals go. I’m only telling it now as they sold out and when I recently called said they wouldn’t ever be getting any more of it as it was a one time purchase.
In January of this year a site vendor had surplus 8mm Mauser up for sale at .22cpr it was marked as “Czech” and the description indicated it was poor ammo with hang fires. I had an MG42 and some K98s and took a chance. The thing was that the ammo they shipped and almost all that was reviewed by others was loose packed 1950s and 1960s Bulgarian. Not Czech at all. I bought 600rds and tried it out. All had hangfires with some years worse than other but 95% fired. Was all Bulgarian. I decided to resell the rest that I didn’t want to use on Gunbroker at a penny auction listed as what it truly was….Bulgarian. The ammo I paid .22cpr with $15 flat rate shipping sold for around .45cpr at a penny auctions several times…...hmmmmmm. Noticed the vendor had more and bought 2000rds and kept the best shooting and resold the rest as it’s true description and the notice of hangfires…..now selling close to .50cpr. Sooooo I took the plunge and bought 6,000rds. Did the same. And finally bought the rest of their inventory of 8mm…..around 22,000rds of what was described as “czech” but pictured and had been shipping Bulgarian. What I received in the last batch of ammo was 22,000rds of genuine Czech BRNO brass case 178gr ammo….not the Bulgarian they pictured and had been sending. They shipped it on a pallet for $15 flat rate. The ammo was perfect, fired perfect, and was accurate and not overpowered. Ran in my full auto MG42 perfect. Here’s the kicker….every last round of the 22,000 last shipment was on 5rd German Axis 1944/1945 stamped clips. The clips are worth around $5 each and are scarce. I’ve been selling them off and at the end of the story I have around 25,000rds of perfect shooting 8mm that I will end getting for “free” and I’ll be making around $5-8,000 in profit on (while Keeping the ammo) when the last of the clips sell. Great score OP. Buddy of mine's dad received a "long truck bed full" of 9mm from a police department DRMO or similar in the early 90's He's still shooting it to this day |

I did the same with 54R on clips.
The clips themselves are worth it...for real users and collectors considering the fake Chinese ones cut you skin deep when using it. |

The years and headstamps are consistent among the 3 clips and 15rds per box. This Z marked stuff looks to have been stored very well and climate controlled as the boxes appear perfect and the ammo shoots perfect.
