Texas State Historical Assn’s Chief Historian Says the Alamo was an ‘Insignificant’ Battle and Represents ‘Whiteness
Although the battle has become a symbol of patriotism and freedom for many Texans and Americans, like the Confederate monuments erected after the Civil War, the myth of the Alamo has been used to “commemorate whiteness,” according to Walter L Buenger, Texas State Historical Association chair. The battle itself was relatively insignificant tactically speaking, but it gained recognition decades later in the 1890s as backlash to African Americans gaining more political power and Mexican immigration increasing, Buenger said. In 1915, “Birth of a Nation” director D.W. Griffith produced “Martyrs of the Alamo,” which solidified the myth further by pitting white virtuous Texans against racist caricatures of Mexicans on screen. “It became in some ways a sort of symbol of Anglo-Saxon preeminence,” he said. “The Alamo became this symbol of what it meant to be white.” View Quote I was kind of figuring since the Democrats won those on Left would drop all the pseudological nonsense about whiteness, privilege, and superiority maintaining constructs, guess not. |

Does it represent whiteness on both sides of the fight or just one?

Does he know that there were Texians inside the Alamo as well?
All American history is going to get erased. |

I've never heard of the TSHA.
Also, if he thinks a hundred-odd white guys and Tejanos getting slaughtered in an old Mission is about White Supremacy, he's REALLY gonna hate it when he reads ahead and learns about the time a little later, when a bunch of angry white guys and Tejanos charged into an army of Mexicans during their siesta, drove them into a swamp, and proceeded to massacre them as they drowned. Then those angry white guys and Tejanos LITERALLY CAPTURED THE FUCKING PRESIDENT OF MEXICO and told him in no uncertain terms to GTFO of Texas. |

I can tell you as a film historian and scholar "Martyrs of the Alamo" is way off the fucking radar.
Is he trying to say that Griffith's films are seen as factual? He should slow his roll. After all, the Soviets studied Griffith productions and modeled their approaches to editing their propaganda films after his work. This idiot should be lauding his films. Dude is grasping for straws. |

Why were there 2,000 Mexicans at the Alamo?
They only had 2 pickup trucks. |

We are experiencing what future historians will be talking about when they pose questions like “I wonder what it was like being alive during the time of America’s self destruction?”
This is what it’s like. Soak it in. |

How much longer before simply being white is a criminal act? Because there is no way it's not coming at this point.

When you have your enemy on the run, you don't stop pursuing them; you pursue them even harder to finish them off. |
