I really have a hard time freaking out about air travel security. Do I think it's overboard and doesn't make much sense? Absolutely, but at the end of the day, it's my choice to fly or not. I can drive to just about anywhere I might need to go, save international or Hawaii. I guarantee if you read the fine print when buying tickets, you agree to screening prior to boarding the plane. You can always opt out of any and all airline screening and not get on the plane. Again, the current screening is redundant and overboard, but we willingly subject ourselves to it out of convenience

I'm using logic again, but I don't think it would work too well. Unlike airports, trains make stops in between big stations. They would have to rebuild all the stations, including Amshacks at Podunk, North Dakota, to be secure. Then, they would have to hire tens of thousands or more TSA agents to man every station. And, this would pretty much eliminate Amtrak and all train travel in this country. |
