Where the thread originally began:

Clip-on switch shield for TRL-1 lights.  In the back position it keeps the switch from being accidentally bumped.  Push it forward with your thumb and the light is ready to use.

Nice. I had a similar idea. Mine is more to prevent it from getting knocked on in the gun safe. Here's my design.

I also made this.

I bought a cheap OC Spray pouch for my rifle light since I don't need the light on my rifle all the time.  Then, I printed this insert so, no matter how roughly the pouch gets jostled, the light can't accidentally turn on.

3mm thick and 1mm thick in the hinges.

Neat! This is the kinda shit I would make if I had a 3D printer.  I’ll buy 2x of them! Would make traveling with a gun in a bag nicer not worried about the light coming on and setting fire to my bag or burning out

Final version:

I angled the back edges and increased the size of the tab on the inside so movement is limited forward and backward to what you see.

This version is for rifle-mounted lights; I'm printing a pistol version now with a thumb tab on the left side and a cut-out for the trigger guard.

Nice, I like that!

Does it click into place?

I don’t own a railed pistol so I don’t know if it’s as much of a concern but here’s the pistol version with cut-out for trigger guard and a tab on the left for the thumb.

Got a download link?  I currently use a piece of milled delrin that sits between the levers and rail to physically prevent the movement, this might be a better solution...

@jchock

Links in the OP.  I think you'll need to log into Tinkercad to use them?  Sorry, very new at this and currently at like a 5th grade level.

@AR45fan

Nope, I completely missed the link... Logged in with my AutoDesk Fusion360 account and exported to an STL.  I'll have to try it later tonight...  Thanks!

You didn't miss the links.  I added them because you asked.

I look forward to seeing these refined by someone more skilled than me.

@AR45fan

(ignoring the print quality in the pics below, my printer doesn't like this olive filament or it doesn't like Cura 4.7.1's profile and needs to be adjusted)

I printed two of your design, but then remixed it in style and shape a bit (PM'd you a D/L link on GDrive for the .STL).  Yours is on the left, mine on the right, and my design is on the background TLR-1.

Both designs work and I did replace the milled delrin/acetal block with this piece instead.

I actually like the print quality.  Gives them a sort of textured camouflage look.  Anyway, I wish I had foliage green filament to match my other furniture but, alas, just black.

Next, I'm working on an M-LOK cantilever rail.

What filament did you print your Glock frame with?

Noticed the DARE officer at my school had a TRL-1 on the rifle in his car - gave him one of these switch covers.

He liked it.  I'm actually interested to hear some feedback from him on its usefulness.
