Saban also donates heavily to charity. Imagine this: Aflac flies him and his wife out to their studio, put them up in a nice hotel for a couple days and he reads lines for 4 hours in the afternoon. Then donates the whole fee, tax deductible to a charity of their choice.

The Tide, Aggies and Bulldogs give the Southeastern Conference three teams in the top seven. The SEC finished 7-2 in the bowls, counting Alabama's national championship victory. Only Florida & Auburn abstained. The Big 12 finished with a perfect record in five bowl games. Oklahoma and Iowa State were joined by No. 19 Texas and No. 20 Oklahoma State in the final rankings from that conference. The ACC's postseason was a dud at 0-6. Clemson, Notre Dame, No. 14 North Carolina and No. 22 Miami gave the ACC four ranked teams. Big-10 was 3-2 while the PAC-12 was 0-2. I'll post the final polls shortly. |

Quoted: Honestly I think it’s just that Bama is that good. Is no one that good? Same OSU team that just beat the crap out of Clemson. I think the writing was on the wall when Bama didn’t make the playoffs last year. Saban and those players were on a mission this year. That’s where the mentality is at Alabama. If you don’t win the NC you didn’t have a successful year. They don’t settle for 10-2 and a New Years 6 Bowl. Everyone one else is ok with that. View Quote What's funny was everyone was crowing about the end of the dynasty when they didn't make the playoff last year...with a banged up qb and no defense. |

He's not a super personable guy, so this commercials are great PR for him and the program...and may set up his post-coaching career too (analyst, most likely). |

Congrats Bama fans. Last nights game was a major beat down of my Bucks.

Oh and I can’t let this go without saying;
The score last night was EXACTLY the score of the Bama / A&M game earlier this year that all the talking head naysayers used to state why A&M didn’t deserve a playoff spot. That’s Gods way of telling them they were wrong. Gods favorite color is maroon. |

I read somewhere that he has three income sources. Salary, shoe and equipment money and advertising money. Two of the three he donates to charities. Coach Bryant in the seventies used to sign all of his salary paychecks back to the university, too, so it may be common with coaches. |

Love seeing the classic teams play. Monk That’s a fact! If I was the owner of a media company that broadcasted football games, all of my announcers would have to watch Keith Jackson’s games during the off season. The man loved the sport and was just as excited calling a game with two un ranked teams as much as a National Championship game and could do so completely unbiased. |

Since that’s not part of pro football, I doubt he would go back to the NFL. Saban is a total control freak. He controls the college players who are on scholarship much better than he could the Pro players. Recruiting is indeed one area where he excels. Winning with a team comprised of 80% + blue chips is much easier than with a pro team that is closer (in talent) to all the other teams in the league. Drafts make the talent much closer than the college recruiting methods does. I am not saying any of that in a bad way. He and his system works for college. NFL? Not so much. |

Quoted: That's kind of like saying ND only lost by 17 so it was a good match up. There are plenty of arguments to be made and even if there was a 8 or 16 team playoff people would still be bitching about their teams not making the cut or how the team has improved enough to be in the mix. View Quote Yep. If A&M had edged out ND, people would be complaining the Irish should have been picked. Sports media keeps this stirred up because they can make more money off of an 8 team playoff. |
