That velocity spread is interesting. I haven't seen nearly that much spread in the SST's or ELD-Ms

I haven't seen that much spread with my AG. All mine is early production stuff though...

LOVE the muzzle discipline at 1:50.
Even BETTER at 3:36 when it's pointed right at his nuts.

Yep, that gun might have tried to discharge by itself in revenge.

Has anyone noticed how the Host of the video resembles Todd Hoffman from one of those gold hunting shows ???

But joking aside , I enjoy his videos .

Since you asked for others velocity numbers with this load, some more anecdotal data for you.

5 shot group, 12" barrel.  85 degrees, probably 80% humidity, 700 feet above sea level for those who care about all the info.

2230
2193
2223
2213
2166

Average of 2205, SD 25.9

Another 5 shot group from the 12" barrel, same day, same ammo, same conditions.

2228
2264
2236
2234
2235<br>
Average of 2239, SD 12.6

I also chrono'd this ammo through a 20" PSA upper.  Same day, same conditions, just with a 20" barrel:

2518
2520
2536
2520
2518<br>
Average of 2523, SD 7.3

12" Grendel build I shot the top two sets with:

What's been your experience with the Elander mags?..... I have some old Cproducts that are ok.  I have had issues with the couple cheap AR stoner mags, they will strictly by range mags.

I’m just getting into 6.5 Grendel.  My C products, elanders and my 2amend mags have all fed reliably so far, but that means basically nothing because I haven’t done anything remotely approaching hard use or long term wear with any of them yet.  Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

74nova's chrono is more similar to the SD's I had in my 12" with both factory SST and ELD-Ms, both 123gr. His are a bit more consistent than my strings were, but I was under 40 for both.

Nice. I don't recall seeing a poor performing grendel round. I'm glad I built one while I could still get parts.

I'm taking the chrono readings with a grain of salt.

I have some ELD and SST, along with some of the prvi 110 and 120 gr options.

Just not enough of any of them to bother messing with them yet.  Only thing I have in bulk is the AG 123s that I chrono’d and wolf.  This year blows. Really should have gotten into the Grendel stuff two years ago.

The neck is long.

4 inches as an ice pick before disruption Is kinda long.  As a hunting, l bullet I feel that is deep.  A deer's or bad guy chest isn't very thick so I want the bullet disrupting sooner.

I chronographed both a 18" and a 12" with 123gr AG and didn't have anywhere that much variation on velocity. Something is definitely seems off in those numbers.

I did notice some temperature variation with the rounds.  Maybe some were laying in the sun and others in a bag out of the sun?

It is a good bulk round and my 18" jp enterprise loves it.

It’s not a hunting bullet.

As slow as it’s going, I’m surprised it even had a permanent cavity.

6.5 Grendel Hornady AG bought last time SGAmmo had it.

18" Barrel - 1:8 twist 85* day
Chrono about 10' from muzzle

2463
2595 <- I thought this was an error - maybe not
2453
2397
2420

Mean = 2465
SD = 76.96
E.S = 198

For Comparison same day .223 55 Gr Wolf Ammo
Included just because it is another factory load
16" Barrel 1:8 twist

3025
3026
3037
3045
3039

Mean = 3034
SD = 8.65
E.S = 20

He even mentioned it as a hunting bullet.

If it was for paper and steel then why test it in gel and why state it could be for both.

Keep in mind that many target bullets do very well as hunting bullets when shot at modest Grendel velocities.

The ELD-M does very well at killing hogs and deer.

At my elevation of 3-5000 feet I get 2450 FPS out of a 16” with AG and out to 600 yards haven’t had to do any tuning with the ballistic app for torso sized targets.  Between the low velocity and the big SD I’d wonder about the chronograph.

Those are like 12" barrel velocities

I'll stick with wolf for now.

I was getting higher average velocities and less SD with the same ammo in my 12” than he did with his 16” gun.

Chrono might be screwy.
