Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Surround sound system recommendations?

My surround sound receiver seems to have taken a dump so now I am looking for a surround sound system. It's an Onkyo 7.1. New one doesn't have to be 7.1 if it's just as good. (This one is 10+ years old). Not looking to spend gobs of $. Any recommendations?

Denon make some pretty affordable receivers that aren't bad.  For a few more dollars, you can get a Marantz, but they are basically the same product.  Like Ford/Lincoln or Toyota/Lexus.

i prefer denon or marantz

but i also but refurb from https://www.accessories4less.com/
factory refurb with factory warranty

The Denon and Marantz recommendations are good. I would add Yamaha Aventage series to the list.
