Sort of...

I allowed lettuce and tomatoes into the shop today, and even made a special sauce. I also allowed it to be orderd with cheddar.

It was quite the departure from the draconian rule I’ve had with mustard, pickles, onion, American cheese.

This is the typical burger one receives.

This is the subnet burger. We called it the Left coast as it’s typical of a West coast style burger with salad and dressing.

I even allowed one to put bacon on it.

anybody remember the subnet live stream (subnet radio) late at night several years ago when he went thru Wendy's (somewhere near Cleveland)  drive through on a late Saturday night and he was hilarious?  I think it was the Bacononater or some such with fries and a drink. He made it home fine and continued his online music broadcast (requests and all) and was funnier than hell (and probably drunk too, I know I was).

I think with the baconator he caught a second wind to be honest.

Adding avocado and suggesting that is “west coast” makes sense.

Adding lettuce, tomato, or bacon and acting as if those aren’t toppings associated with burgers throughout the entire country? That’s just derptastic.

Dude if you are serving customers and want to stand out...hear me out...put an old school Ohio sandwich at least on the menu.

Bologna. I know that sounds weird but we are the kings and it isn't Oscar Meyer like you had in your lunch box at school. It is all about the meat.  There should be lots of it.  And it is simple to make.

I don't need the bacon/bun/salad when I eat this bologna

While today it’s very common all over, there was a time where lettuce and tomatoes on a burger was a California thing. It was a time before avocados were on everything.

Yeah, I think he's a little bit nuts..

I'm 56 and grew up in L.A., went to school in San Fran and I've been in Miami since '85 and lettuce and tomato are coming traits going back as far as I remember--say 1968 in L.A.?

Now some back-water towns that most of ARF comes from, I can't really say.

Putting avocado on a burger is probably more a Cali thing, since Cali grows a lot of avocados.

That’s tough to disprove, as so many of the chains that mainstreamed the hamburger started in California.

But, I’ll offer that McDonalds, started in California, did NOT have lettuce or tomato on its original burgers. Yet the Whopper, introduced in the 1950s by the Florida-based Burger King chain, did. The Big Mac had lettuce, but not tomato. It was introduce a decade after the Whopper, and in Pennsylvania.

To suggest ingredients from the Whopper, a 60+ year old burger that is the signature burger of one of the most ubiquitous American burger chains, are something specifically “Californian” is derptastic. I stand by that.
