Just a suggestion. It's annoying and I think it's slowing down my performance as I scroll though the page while the site announcement is still visible.

It is setup this way to avoid dominating the screen when too many are there. I can tweak scroll settings, but it should not be creating phone "lag".

just saw this today on desktop, windows with chrome, there are only 3 items there the scroll bar does nothing.
i do have my forum settings font size on extra large and it goes away when i set that to default but i am old and blind this looks dumb

I should clarify The lag is from dragging the screen down but it's actually dragging the announcement down instead. +1 vote for horizontal scroll of one character line. +1 vote for reducing the announcements |

Honestly I have never even looked at or clicked anything on the announcements banner section.
It's really just taking up useful space in my opinion. Does any of the links there actually get a lot of views? |

We have another version designed that I'll bump up in priority, but this was a temp solution to remove the wall of announcements. Usually there's only 1 or 2 so it shouldn't scroll or take up space.
The new version will also scroll, but yes, it will be horiz slider style.

Uh what browser and client are you using to see it like that?
Mobile devices only show 2 stories, in a smaller space, and yes, they now slide in horizontally. Non-mobile will show 3 items. So something is clearly off with your image which has a small window, but 3 items in large font. It's a combination of random elements that should not be there. Try to refresh it. It could be something is cached and messed up on your end.

They just started taking up a bunch of room on my screen too. Not sure if it's something I did or the site changed. Pretty annoying though. Using Firefox.
