He has an excellent point.
You can make $57,000+/years sitting at home watching Netflix. Free healthcare costs and cell phone. Subsidized food, housing, and a ton of other programs. "I think we're already there. We had basic income, way back in the 1960s; it's still with us with welfare programs and the like. And now we've been expanding it and expanding it," Gundlach added. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/gundlach-on-stimulus-and-ubi-120022461.html |

Yet everyone will complain there is nothing on store shelves and if they can find it that it is stupid expensive.

And yet we are already seeing why it doesn't work - because it results in people that don't work, despite there being demand for them.
UBI would have to be combined with mandated jobs. Private companies aren't going to like that. Better just make them all state owned. That's the only way it has any chance of functioning. But we know that does not function. |

Remember when Trump said "America will never be a socialist country" at the SOTU?
Pepperidge Farms remembers. |

Basically anyone who is workin and not getting any monies has had their wage worth reduced by $57k...

I see what is happening is the last piece of the puzzle, destroying what is left of the middle class.
When employee's have been working for 20 and 30 years at the same place and are making a wage that now has become the starting wage are pissed because now inflation has destroyed a lifetime of earnings. Why continue to work at the same place when you can now either leave for a higher starting wage or not work at all and get a paycheck for doing nothing. What has happened to the U.S. government rivals having an actual coup. But getting the other 50% off their asses to stop it will not happen as they think it will all go away at the next election. However that is just how the traitors stay in power by creating an artificial atmosphere of panic that only martial law can control. 1861 All over again. We are now in a type of civil martial law, as the virus has been used as a trojan horse to not force you to isolate but to have the populace think that to keep yourself safe you will volunteer to stay indoors at home. Now the media can indoctrinate the masses that are now being re-educated watching the news nonstop, fake news. The oldest generation that is always in control of government has been reduced to believing that socialism is the only way as the other option will take the security that the government provides, retirement and healthcare that is tragically terrible at best. But is the only security that retired people have. Instead of yourself providing your own secure future the government says that they will manage it for you, then making the retired person dependent on a safety net. |

Do it. I’ll work just enough to make the income standards. I will get a cash side job.
Kick the brakes off this train. Let’s take it to its destination. |

What ever living wage is set, inflation will rise to make that living wage no longer livable.

Some of the fast food places in town have closed their lobbies again because they can't get enough help but to run but their drive-thrus. They are all paying $12.00+ a hour to start.

How do I get in on this action ?
I have one year left of working but would retire now if I could |

I remember my first job was minimum wage as an EMT for AMR. When I became a paramedic with a two year degree, $11.72. Responsible for narcotics.
Yesterday, these fucks are Burger King screwed up my order, and I'm just thinking, and they want $15 an hour and can't even figure out if you want fries with that? Now guys like my "late bloomer" brother who has no career, stay home, collect a paycheck, who make MORE than my sister who is a full time county correctional officer. |

View Quote Starting pay is around 32K ($16.00 a hour) in VDOC right now. Folks could do almost as well or better for themselves slinging boxes for Amazon, or putting bicycles together at Walmart....And that includes benefits and real OT, not that comp-time BS they (VDOC) always pulls on it's employees. There no real job security like it once was either.....Almost every prison I worked at has been closed down. There used to be eight in the region I retired from, there's one left and it's on it's last legs. |

I guess these dumb fucks that run government haven't realized that we're already at the tipping point where the size of the welfare army vs the workforce is going to cause major disruptions to their comfy lives as we run out of laborers and tradesmen. We are already seeing the labor shortages at retail and fast food. I've personally been seeing it at food manufacturing plants and even at local farms where the crops are waiting on enough people to pick them. I can't seem to find any electricians or panel builders, and I'm pretty sure when we put the ad in for helpers it'll be even worse.
Idk if they're just idiots, or if the plan is to just crush every small employer that can't stay in business with no employees, but I dont think the end result is going to be what they think it is. |

Either the politicians are guilty of massively gross negligence due to pure utter incompetence...
or this is all by design. Either way, they are guilty and need to go. |

Been saying this from the beginning. It's obvious that's exactly what will happen.

If anyone is too stupid to see where this is going once double digit inflation kicks in, they need their head examined.
ETA: It appears that some states get it, but we need a whole lot more. Unfortunately, we are highly dependent on states like California whether or not anyone wants to admit it or not. |

Quoted: If you have kids, you get $250-300 (age dependent) each from July thru December, then another $1500 each CTC on taxes. Basically UBI for parents. Basically UBI for parents. @phlat $600 per month for 6months then $1500 isnt exactly making a living. That being said it is a tax credit, which is already in place but the dollar amount is now higher per kid, we are going to stash it away until next years taxes to see how that will effect us. |

My unarmed 'retirement age' guard said she wanted to be paid $20/hour on Friday.
I've had to bump just about all of my day labor people about $2/hour more than what they were making. It's made it hard on me when you multiply that by 300+ people. This family business is going to try to break even. |

Quoted: Unless they fix wages at that level for everyone. Unless you do special work, of course. Politician, secret police, stuff like that. View Quote If you give away free money and or force higher wages you will get inflation period. The market establishes prices. Anything thing that put it's finger on the scale will cause money to find it's best use. The current state of the stock market is a perfect example of this. Should they lower wages for all then we would have massive deflation. It's not possible to have a free market AND have .GOV involved picking winners without consequences. (we don't really have a free market) Continued payments to not work will have an effect of raising wages. Businesses will have to chase the worker to get them off the dole. This will have an even worse effect on inflation. The real issues is when they ultimately have to stop the payments. ALL these 'funemployment' workers will be looking for jobs all at once. There will be a knee jerk to the economy followed by even more inflation. Housing is cooking right now as the baby boomers decided to finally retire. We are going to be heading for a seriously interesting ride. Carter 3.0 is coming. |
