Seems like it should violate the ADA somehow.

They don’t.
Fuck everything about masks. I hate them and the people who push them. |
|
It def is a problem for some folks. I've had to lower my mask at times to be understood, but don't tell anyone
|

I'm not deaf but reading lips sure as hell helps communication at work.
Huh?! is the new most common reply. |
|
Mebbe maskers should all go to plastic bags instead. Look mom! I'm a NASA spaceman. Back in the '60s there used to be ads warning kids not to play spaceman that way.

We are likely to have allot of children with real developmental problems as well. Imagine the untold cost of babies not being able to see peoples expressions or themselves learn language visually as well. The cost of C19 will not be known in it's entirety for decades.

When you hear a constant "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" in your ears all day long, and someone comes up to you and says, "Mumblemumblemumble" it's infuriating. |

Fuck deaf people. Why do they want everyone to die from COVID?

I've never been around a deaf person. Are they usually able to read lips?
|
|
It extends beyond deaf to dementia and alzheimer's patients. Difficulty hearing people talking and not being able to pick up facial cues can make it difficult for them to understand what is being said.

I am not "deaf" but I have been whatting everyone to death. I didn't realize the extent I was actually reading lips until the China virus came around.

If I was that deaf guy, I would ask my boss what exactly I was supposed to get out of meetings where I can’t hear anyone, and I can’t read lips. I can’t imagine the rage. |

They don't. I wear hearing aids, but still watch people's mouth to fully understand them. With mask
Them: Do you want ground beef or ground pork? Me: Yes, the lamb sounds good. |

I didn't realize how much I rely on reading lips until masks.
Im not deaf by any means, but in a crowd or with a bunch of background noise, my brain focuses on all the other BS noise and not the person right across the table speaking to me. My stupid brain will pickup some jackass' voice 30 feet across the room but it won't allow me to concentrate on the person right across from me. So to offset this, I unknowingly got pretty good at reading lips. Now with masks, that crutch is gone. Im basically just faking it half the time in conversations because I can't hear/tune into the conversation. Add in the muffled bullshit caused by the masks and I just smile and wave. |

I had to get between a valet and my Uber driver in Florida because of that.
The valet was escalating pretty quickly because he thought the driver was ignoring him. I was getting my bags out of the trunk and tried to tell him, but he wasn't paying attention to me. I had to walk over, step in front of him and say "bro, he's deaf! ". "Oh. I assumed he was being passive aggressive." |

Everyone has to be accompanied by a personal sign-language interpreter at all times now.

One thing that masks have brought to the surface for me is how bad my hearing actually is and how much I depend on reading lips when people are talking to me.....

I'm not deaf, I have pretty good hearing, fuck if I can understand half the shit people say while wearing a mask.
|

I’m not even deaf and this whole thing has shown me how much I rely on lip reading. Fuck masks.

The constant EEEEEEEEeeeeEEEEEeeeeEEEEEEeeeeEEEeEEEEEEEeeeeeee and not being able to pick up on reading lips and facial cues is making my job much more difficult in the nursing field where 100% clear, concise, unambiguous communication is required. I basically either say what or huh a lot or just stare at them until they realize I don't understand what the fuck they're saying. Work is so much fun now. I can actually hear sounds but my hearing loss is largely related to nerve damage from being blown up and having been on the receiving end of many RPGs, mortar, and rocket attacks. The nerve damage makes it difficult to interpret the nerve impulse my ears are sending to my brain. The tinnitus I suffer from starts in the 7000mHz range and is really, really loud. So that prevents me from hearing even normal conversational sounds in the first place. |

They can’t and many I know have basically broke down in tears because of the bullshit and people screaming at them when they can’t understand something being said

I'm extremely hard of hearing, and I've trained myself to understand people with a combination of what hearing I have left coupled with lip reading, and it is terribly difficult when folks have masks on. |
|
|
Add people that have hearing issues. I have a little less issue now since it seems people have started to automatically
start talking louder when they put a mask on. |
|
It's not about what you wear. It's that you wear something to comply. |
|
|
My family has a history of hearing issues. My hearing has been going downhill for years. I do struggle more now...
