Did you check the serial number to see if it was subject to recall?

https://recalls.keltecweapons.com

Also, were the Gold Dots standard pressure or +P?

OOB detonation or case head rupture?

Did you find the case responsible? Is there a bullet stuck in the barrel?

Nothing in barrel.  I'll go look in the yard.  Literally it fucking blew in half while shooting it.

They will fix it and have it back to you in a few years.

Based on the photos, I don't think this was related to the recall. I'm guessing OOB.

According to the OP's serial his is not on the recall list.

Louder than normal explosion, or did it just break in half? The magazine looks okay in the photo. Any shrapnel in your hands?

No.  No shrapnel.  Felt just the same as the other shots.  Still had it shouldered when the front fell off.

I'm really leaning towards this. It looks more like a stress fracture than a kaboom.
Link Posted: 1/25/2019 2:11:46 PM EDT
[#38]
Doesn't look like an OOB or any other type of ammo related kaboom. I'm not seeing any scorching or burning. Looks like the plastic just broke. Either a manufacturer defect or damage from being dropped with the barrel striking a hard surface at an angle.

Either way, it shows why they are nothing but range toys.

Edit. And that's not the reciever. The receiver is the metal tube that forms the stock tube. The original design of the part that broke was metal. Bean counters.

Just send it back to the mothership. They make fun little toys, but they are sometimes less than reliable. That said, they have always fixed mine and had them back to me in a few weeks.

Sounds like it didn't blow up, but rather just cracked in half. Glad to hear you came out unscathed.

You might take a look at the Ruger PC9 for a replacement, or perhaps an AR-9 pistol.

Sub2k is a cool idea with typical Keltec execution.

Glad you're OK, OP.

I'll give the OP $20 if he duct-tapes it back together and shoots it on video.

I had a case rupture in a PMR30 I owned...KT had it back to me in under a week, but the point is KT does not fully test their firearms.

I would never buy or trust anything KT again.

Glad you weren't injured, OP.
