Not your grandpa’s ammo thread...
Between the two, I actually did see 3 boxes of ammo - 1 box of 28g shotgun shells - 2 boxes of 45-70 subsonic  But what I found most interesting was that both had lots of pmags in....but not the regular 30 round pmags I’m used to seeing. Between the 2 stores in 2 states, I bet I saw 10 pegs filled with 10 round pmags, Ten rounders. Bunches of them. I know several people have mentioned here that they were buying 10 round Glock mags but this is a new one on me. I’m sure they have always carried them but this was a lot. Past retail manager so I know about spreading stuff out to fill pegs and pull everything to the front but this was just...odd. Tinfoil hat...engage! And fuck Joe Xiden! |

I went to one in Tulsa today. Opened at 9am. I got there a few minutes after due to doc appointment. Line probably already 50 people long. Turned around and walked out. Luckily I wanted ammo and did not need it.

Local Rural King has endcaps full of 30rd Gen2 Pmags @$15. Several other brands as well. And nothing but a few odd shotgun shells for ammo.

Went by a local one today. They had about 50 boxes of Winchester M855 behind the customer service counter at 60 cents/round. I told the girl I’d take all of it. She looked at me like I was stupid and said I could only have 3 boxes. Worth a shot

Pmags are available a mile from my house for $14. I have more than enough for my poor ass already. Wish there was more ammo, the only local stuff is about $1 a round.
I was picking up some aguila 22lr, but after shooting it and seeing how filthy and gritty it is, I see why it was available. |

Look at the packaging on those MFT magazines it says 20/30 . They are a thirty round magazine fixed permanently to 20. I work at Academy.

I stopped by the local gun store that has its own range. The shelves were full, everything was double or triple the price. Plenty of 9 mm, plenty of 223 , plenty of 30 ought 6. The only thing they didn't have is what I was looking for 30-40 krag.
They also had a surprisingly large supply of pmags and other mags, with Windows, without windows and in black and brown. |

I use 10 round Pmags with 5 round limiters for hunting. But those are buy a couple and throw them in the hunting bin mags, not stack 'em deep type of mags.

I went to 3 Academy stores today and got (5) 20 round boxes of Winchester M855 at $11.99 per box, (1) box of Federal 9mm HST 124 grain for $29.99, (13) 25 round boxes of Winchester 12 ga. target loads for $6.99 per box and (1) 50 round box of .22 LR CCI Standard Velocity for $4.99. You have got to get there at least 1 1/2 hours before they open to have a shot at 9mm and then hit multiple stores as quickly as possible.

My local Wally the other day had about 15 boxes of 12 gauge slugs, about a dozen boxes of .222, and 2 boxes of .308 FMJ. Luckily I have enough .308.

He was a Colorado resident, which isn’t a problem per se, being able to purchase a long gun out of state. The problem is he lived in Colorado which (I believe) has outlawed 30 round magazines. Sportsmans Warehouse photo taken about 2 months ago. These shelves are normally stocked with powder, projectiles, and primers as well as reloading equipment on the other side.
During this visit ammo shelves were stripped bare except for .40 JHP

28 Gauge must not be too hot these days... :)   I did find Several Ammo Cans of .50 BMG for $3 a round today at a local shop. Maybe I need to buy are Rifle that shoots it. |

Went in to a walmart Friday to see if I could find some pellets for my Gamo .22. Found 4 boxes of CCI 22's and about a dozen .22 mags. Limit was 4 boxes so I got all 4 of the .22's and the walmart guy said he'd add a box of the .22 mags if I wanted one. Which I did.
Never did find any pellet ammo for my Gamo. |
