I'm shocked it is really good I had given up on hollywood making anything I would watch

I thought the first season was great. I didn't finish the second but I do that all the time
My wife has watched them all and likes them. |
I just finished watching all three of the original karate kid movies to get started on Cobra Kai.

It's real appeal, for me at least, is to see the original actors 30 years later. The plot - actual fights (outside of competition bouts) between people in SFV for fairly childish reasons is less appealing... but still, kind of fun to watch.

First season will feel nostalgic for anyone of that Era who was a fan of the karate kid. The second begins to feel like a teen drama and lost me about 3 episodes in.

Latest season was meh, definitely taking a steep turn down to disappointment as it progresses.

I know but my gf had only seen the first one and didn't really remember it so I figured we should watch them all. I grew up with those movies it was nice to see them again I think they did a good job making all three films one big story. |

The teen drama does get old quick on seasons 2 and 3. It than some nostalgia or Fuck Yah moment happens and you love it again.
Just watched the season 3 episode where the Kid in the wheelchair goes to the Twisted Sister show....Fuck yeh! |
Watch season 1 and call it. 2 & 3 are weak. It is obvious that they started to run out of material and plot. So lots of fillers. BTW, the same applies to The Boys.
First season was a nice throwback.
2 got boring, haven't even bothered with 3. |
It is surprisingly good. In a campy kind of way. The karate is about on the level of Power Rangers. But, it's good entertainment. And who knew William Zabka had such range; he's the best part of the show.
Part throwback, part Nickelodeon with a hint of Hallmark in season three.
Still I love it and can’t wait until season 4 drops. Really enjoy the interaction between Johnny and Daniel. |

Firat 3 episodes or so were fantastic. The remainder have been very good.

I love Cobra Kia, Johnny is a riot. Especially that scene where he gives his version of the events that happened back in 1984.
As a kid in the 80s I took martial arts and ran around with my friends from the school. I liked the Karate Kid movie- but my bigger influence movie wise was the Ninja craze going on at the time and of course this guy named Chuck Norris. I signed up for TaeKwonDo instead of Karate. TaeKwonDo sparring was more fun to me. |

Daniel San and Johnny, taking their ladies on a date night...
My favorite episode. |
