One weird thing about DU is that there seem to be a lot of Vietnam War veterans there, actual boomers who fought in the war yet turned into liberal asshats. Even GD doesn't have any Vietnam vets I think.

It used to have TONS of members in 08 and so forth.
They tons of purges of the semi level-headed liberals throughout the years. Dissent, regardless of how long you were a member or if you actually were a liberal/democrat or not was tolerated. I had a 5k post 3 year old account nukes during the Trayvon fiasco because I was trying to explain stand your ground laws and the onus of proof. I tried to tell them the DA was retarded and zim would walk because he was being overcharged and there were no eyewitnesses to the start of the physical altercation. I wasn’t even trolling and I guess the truth was inconvenient. A month or two later he walked and anyone not 187% incensed and outraged was whacked. |

Found out about the place from here also.
Since around 2003-04 up until a couple of years ago, I've been banned at least a dozen times. Actually used to be way more entertaining in the earlier years when they really had some far out gun grabbing lunatics. I'm sure there are a few old timers here that recall the likes of Mr. Benchley, Iverglas, CO Liberal, Proud Dad, etc. They've made it more difficult to sign up again ever since they banned burner/free email accounts. They also used to catch repeat offenders by IP banning necessitating signing up and logging in through a VPN or Tor. As far as I know, they probably flag and block those to now.
