God help me, I'm gonna stop you right there, this is not the trap thread you are looking for, no trip wires and punji pits, this thread is about level 9 gay stuff, leave now, or read and have no regrets. If you want the TL:DR skip to the end.

Since people asked, I shall answer, at least the best of my ability, this is a rather complicated subject.

So what would make a gay guy want a somewhat feminine guy instead just say other typical masculine men?

All right I got a little hypothetical story, thatt I have pieced together from other people I've read about, you're a kid that grows up with all the typical stuff of how things are supposed to be, story of Romeo and Juliet, how men are supposed to act and how women are supposed to act, and what they are supposed to like, then puberty comes along and screws all of that up.

The comfort of how things are supposed to be and then the realities of your physical attraction come immediately into conflict with each other, so there is us to kind of fill that need you can say, it is hard to find any Western equivalent to what I am talking about.

We are not drag queens, and we are not transgender, possibility of plenty of plastic surgery yes but no hormones or anything, twinks comes close in some ways but not quite, good portion of us could fall into that by default, I would say their is two proper terms ... sort of, the Japanese word wiki link: Bishonen and  the Korean: Kkonminam throw in some occasional cross dressing and their you go

So to continue you grow up and and you're told you're supposed to like women with long hair, you're supposed to like women in frilly dresses, dad Whispers, winks, and says you're supposed to like women with big boobs, as Mom rolls her eyes, and all of that stuff that gets force-fed to you.

But you are 15 and something is not quite right, you like many aspects of girls but you don't like them totally for some reason, then you discover slowly, subtly, that you actually  like guys, but your not totally attracted to the typically masculine either, you want something of combination of both archetypes, a softer guy, so you don't like big boobs at all you like shoulders, yet you like thin ones, you like ass and legs but a different kind of ass and legs, yet thin ones, you like the energetic and feisty guy personality, yet you wouldn't mind if they were just a little soft and submissive, short in height, smooth skin, thin in frame with a slight amount of tone, relatively little body hair and no facial hair, so as you see you like dainty things, because that's what you grew up with, that's what you know, because that is what was fed to you, because that's what guys are supposed to look like, becuase men must want women ... but you like dick, so they fight with that reality, because even though they are gay, they still prefer the old stereotypical masculine feminine couple archetype, so they make something work.

So this is what you like, but it is hard to find, so you start dating some twinks and what not but they're stereotypical flamboyant and prissy attitude bother you , so are start to hang out with trans people but then you realize that that is a whole different can of worms that you really don't want to deal with, but you have no choice in some cases, you do not want a guy that wants to become a girl, you just want a guy that has the aura and demeanor of one a fair amount of the time, so that search for the gentle flower in the garden continues.

So to continue, instead you fill this hole with the internet since you can't find it in your local AO, find out the adorable looks of East Asians are the shit, discover old literature from Japan and Korea, and wander why can't we have some of that here? As he begins to wallow in a pit of despair, because he is a Midwestern American guy, and what he wants is not around, and possibly never will be unless he gets lucky in college.

So this explains the want for someone like us, and there is thousands of guys like that, that want that kind of guy, but the demand is high and the supply is very low, so many of them will perhaps forever be single.

But what would make a guy want to be this kind of soft gentle flower for them?

I will use myself as an example.

To not have a complicated life long story, I'll just use bits and pieces of important parts, growing up as a kid you had no normalcy a family, so you kind of get lost in television, you learn right and wrong from Batman the Animated Series back in the 90s, you watch the spaghetti westerns with John Wayne, the humor of Tom Selleck in Magnum PI, the oozing style and coolness of Miami Vice, and lots and lots of anime, but around 13 or so years old as you're seeing all this, you see the women that these masculine protagonists are with, and you are so somewhat jealous of the women for some reason but you don't know why, then at 14 you start stealing stockings skirts and dresses, shaving your legs at 15, by 16 giving blowjobs to guys, parents start questioning everything, they're starting to wonder if you're transgender or something, I myself think that maybe I wish to be a girl in my mind for a Time, but then I start to see that i'm more complicated at age 17, at 18 I realize that yes I kind of did want to be a girl, but not in the normal sense, I finally figured it out at that time, the reason why I was jealous of those women who were with such Immaculate masculine archetypes, I thought subconsciously in my brain going through puberty, that well ... if men like that, want women like that, then there must be men like that, that want guys like that as well, so why not? Dresses are quite comfy and cute anyway, then by age 19 I figured out myself completely, then I lucked out and am happily married

So what else do you want to know?

I think it would be interesting to know the social castes of the gay community. Do bears in general loathe furfags? Do traps dislike tgirls? Despite knowing a lot of gay dudes, I've never really gotten into a deep discussion on gay social biases within their own circles.

Just like any profession has their own semi-castes (engineering pecking order for example. EE at the top, then ME, then Aero, civil and systems shouldn't be called engineers) I'm interested in that aspect.
