Because the ATT 4G/LTE coverage in southeast FL blows

Supposedly, based on the ATT coverage map, this area is 5G now.

Recently went with t-mobile 5g. Works ok. Was on atand t , most I ever got at home on 4g was 2 bars. Get a much better signal with 5g.

5G is not some devil frequency. Stop being scared of Wi-Fi signals while you’re at it.

If you think the ATT 4G/LTE coverage sucks you will be really disappointed with the 5G coverage. No carrier is installing 5G anywhere they do not already have existing 4G service. Many carriers are using DSS to share the 4G bandwidth with 5G to increase their 5G coverage.

I only got a 5g phone because it was on sale for basically the price of a regular 4g model.  I'm not willing to spend more money for a 5g plan though, not yet. So no idea how good it is.  Websites and videos play pretty much instantaneously on 4g, so the practical benefit of 5g, at the present, would be wasted on me.

I wouldn't expect it to help. I get about the same speeds on 4G or 5G on an iPhone 12 mini.

Dude might just wanna know if people experience better signal coverage with 5g vs  4g.

Phones are expensive yo.

New Samsung S21 Ultra on pre-order and should have it Thursday from Verizon.  There are two basic flavors of "5G"..the really high speed stuff is pretty much only in the major cities and really only in very small confined areas from what I've read, but super fast.  Everywhere else is lower speed 5G, but should be equal to or better than your current "4G".

Right now 5G is sharing bandwidth with 4G. Unless you are in an ultra wide band area.

for the most part it is going to be like "really good 4G".
if you are considering an iPhone, iOS will determine on the fly if your task will benefit from 5G vs the power draw.

5G is not (right now) the world changing technology it's marketed as... but that day is coming

Good 4g beats whatever AT&T called their fake 5g network.

5G is confusing. It's not one technology that will bring you gigabit-per-second-speeds and sub-10-millisecond latency. 5G's actually three different network approaches. Only one of these -- millimeter-wave (mmWave) -- can give you gigabit speeds. Verizon, under the name 5G Ultra-Wideband, leads in US mmWave deployment. But the company also muddied the water by introducing yet another 5G approach: Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS). Verizon 5G DSS performance is pretty much the same as you're getting from Verizon 4G LTE.

Most current 5g is "Non-Standalone 5g" which means it works in conjunction with existing 4g. Your signal on these towers is going to be essentially the same as existing 4g.

It may not be that way forever, but as of today, adding 5g for additional coverage isn't likely going to net you much.

Have you looked into other cell phone providers? ATT is horrible in my area in general

I am liking it. I work “downtown” and LTE was shit with the buildings and over crowded network...dropped calls, Couldn’t load webpages quickly, sending/receiving pictures would timeout and all that.

With 5G it’s like being on WiFi. Doesn’t matter where I go, the signal and speed is rocking.

I use AT&T
