Granted, the orange didn't exactly have the chance to have webbing issues, being the bolts. But the gray for the core of the lower has plenty of open spots, namely the mag well and trigger pocket, and there was no webbing there.

Generally yes, unless you're going to babysit the print the entire 22hrs to know exactly when you have to lay the metal plate, and then pause and hope the hotend doesn't get so cool while you're laying the plate that the filament doesn't come out properly when you restart the print. It also defeats the purpose of a printed lower if you have to add non-printed parts. |

Oh, I just saw you said sides.
That would be, practically, impossible. The top of the core was printed on the glass bed as the bottom. The extruder would not be able to get around vertical metal plates
