They show up every once in a while. Pretty cool. Hoping that one day there will be one here the same time as a C5 or C17

Seen one on the ramp at KSC when some Space Station shit was coming in. It normally came on a Beluga or Super Guppy but I guess they were busy or couldn't take the size.
Anyways- the fucking thing is HUGE. It absolutely dwarfed the STA 747 that was there at the time. |

They need like 5 minutes on the runway to run up and take off, and then their rate of climb is measured in meters per hour. |

Shortly before I retired at the end of 2006, 3/17 Cav did a NTC rotation. We loaded out or OH-58Ds on a contract Antonov for the flight from Drum to Irwin. That just chafed my ass.

I didn't get a picture but that was a big bastard plane that was clown car packed with big helicopters. It is somewhat ridiculous we aren't efficient enough or capable (whichever it is) of moving our own equipment. |
