Cost for a burner?
Can they be stored in the trunk of a car for later use? Hold it and activate when needed? Any additional information is appreciated. |

i have a couple burners in the rotation.
if you're really worried about it, buy used or pay a day labor guy to buy it for you. |

Looked at WalMart last week but didn’t find what I was looking for. I don’t need a smarts with data/minutes that expire in 90 days. I just want an old school tracfone that I can use whenever needed. |

I've used them for work.
My understanding is if you stop putting minutes on it the phone goes dead. |

In the process of applying for a Telegram account which requires a phone # for verification, I discovered you can install a couple apps on your cell phone that gives you an anonymous virtual phone number. Two apps that I am aware of is Textnow and Burner. Burner requires a subscription. Textnow is free but ad-supported. You have to use the # they assign you regularly or it gets deleted. I can also send/receive texts too.

I would want something that was preactivated. Turn it on, make your call and then trash the phone. I have no idea if this is possible.

not perfect but much harder to track then a normal phone.
buy a prepaid credit card in cash at a convenience store buy a pay as you go cell phone at a different store in cash load phone with prepaid card away from anything that tracks you, like your car or other cell phone leave the phone off and wait at least several days make your calls away from anything that tracks you, like your fitbit, laptop, cellphone or anything else linked to you. trash the phone in a public place before returning to all the other stuff that tracks you. thats about as good as it gets. if you're not dumb and doing something super illegal you'll be pretty hard to track. |

Burner phone, what kind of poors shit is that?
I use a disposable sat phone linked to my personal comms sat. |

I have a burner phone, it's a TracFone and was $20.
It's actually cheaper to buy 3 month cards for 20 as that adds up to $80 a year. The $100 per year cards didn't seem to have any upside in my situation. It's a flip phone and the battery sucks compared to the old flip phones. Maybe it's just a crap battery but it doesn't last long. I picked this up because I opened a second Venmo account for a group I help out and Venmo requires a real phone number. No google voice. I've toyed around with the idea of buying one for fun just to have a totally anonymous phone. It would take some discipline to make it truly anonymous. |

My work phone is also my burner phone that kind of stays in my go-bag. If not for that if probably consider buying one of these “burner phones” incase something happen to my actual phone..... a back up would be nice. Good thinking.

The amount of time that a place will keep camera footage before deleting it will vary depending on the store. But they always delete old footage that they haven't been given a reason to save. |

H2O wireless seems pretty cheap. $.05/min, buy a $10 or $20 card which is good for 90 days. Bring your own phone. Uses ATT network, I have a box of ATT RAZR phones I can use.

GPS shows position and the cell towers show phone numbers hitting the tower, marry the two and you're compromised. Have your regular cell phone with you and it will be associated with the car and the burner and you have no anonymity, if that's what you're trying to achieve. |

Op if that’s the case you should be able to get a cheap burner and not buy a card/minutes. iIRC all cell phones will call 911 in the US without any plans or data |

Burner phones are pointless in this day and age. Unless you’re trying to cheat on your wife. They’re no good for going dark.
If you’re designated as a HVT “they” can pick up on any call you make. Texts would be your only lifeline and it’s a thin one. |

I think you have to go online and divulge a bunch of information in order to enable a new payg phone.

Most newer vehicles have cellular radios built into them or onstar type stuff.
Ditch the phone... but still tracked by your own car. |

Moreso as a burner for Craigslist/FB marketplace/internet buying and selling deals where I don't want my personal number compromised. I've had my current number for 18+ years and I receive zero spam calls or texts on it to this day. I've worked hard for that! |
