I've fiddled around with it a time or two but I dont really have a good grasp on it.
I usually use the big 5 gallon jugs of deer park but have been thinking about getting a RO filter and do the salts thing. Doing a hazy IPA saturday so will do a bit of salts for that. Makes the hops pop and gives it the right mouth feel for a hazy. |

I looked into an RO setup, the thing thats chasing me away from it though is that RO filters are slow Like takes you most of a day just to collect your brewing water slow. 80 cents for a jug of distilled water just seems easier for now. |

Around my place in Ohio they have RO machines that cost .35 a gallon (just went up from .25) I take two 5 gallon mil water cans and fill them when brew. Takes a couple of minutes since they have big tanks. |

I generally throw some gypsum in the RO water.

Yea, the amount of time is pretty bad. Couple buddies of mine have the RO and do have to start it the day before. I brewed a Bells Two Hearted clone this weekend and just used the 5 gallon deer park |

There are different calculators on the site, including water profile calculators. At my work we use BeerSmith3 for our water and recipes work sheets. Not to hard once you figure out the programs and know about your water and what the goal is. |
