be a badass and get a 1675.

or a 16710 like Chuck.

The choice here is obvious, don't get me wrong I love Omega's but GMT all day.

Only Omega that beats a Rolex (based on my opinion) is a Speedmaster over a Daytona. Would take the Speedy every day.

With the GMT Master II you can get a pepsi, coke, and black bezel insert and have three different watches.

I dunno, the co-axial Omega movement is arguably the best automatic out there.

Seiko spring drive is better technology.

The This is really one of the better GMTs on the market in terms of specs and movement. It’s better movement than the current Rolex GMT evolution.

I'd go with the Rolex, a BLNR if you can.

I love the Planet Ocean but the GMT models don't look right to me.

Spring drive is cool, but not really a completely mechanical movement. The Tudor is a solid choice, but I can hear it now: "Tudor eh? Didn't have enough to get the Rolex eh?"

Those people are idiots then.

I'd own a BB GMT right now but I'm a case thickness snob

IF you can get your hands on the Rolex, thats hands down the best one.

But that's just me, as I would never buy a Rolex.
Don't get me wrong, have no doubt in their being excellent time pieces, I wouldn't turn one down.
I think the name has been over hyped; the "Budweiser" of 'luxury' watches.
There are so many other more worthy options out there IMHO.  YMMV

Omega just expanded their "availability" to several jewelry stores here in town as the boutique wasn't moving product as expected. You can get killer discounts, I've got a good relationship with one of the GM's here at the boutique - he wears a Milgauss when not at work.

Are you buying for the name, movement, looks, quality or what?
My post wasn't to 'dis' anyone choosing a Rolex. if that's what you want.
A lot of people recognize the name and that's as far as they get; oblivious to the rest of the world

I just like options.

In house movements, solid construction, and classic designs.

I’ve stated before I wish Rolex didn’t have its stigma and was just a professional enthusiast brand.

This is why I got rid of my SubC and went with the 14060m.

Yup. My two favorite wearers are my Seiko MM300 and my Sub for the reasons you listed.

I'm also with you on the Rolex stigma piece. The Seiko suffers the exact opposite issue (which I like), flying completely and totally under the radar despite sporting one of the best movements out there, along with being 100% manufactured in-house.

To OP, of those two choices get the Rolex and don't listen to anti-snob snobs.

Regular steel 1675s can go between $9k to $20k.

About ten years ago they went for $5k to $7k.

I'm not sure that's so much marketing as it is just a cultural trend.  I see much more ads for the sub date in scuba and sailing magazines and that can be had for much less.

Out of those two watches, I like everything about the Rolex GMT more except the goddamn cyclops. God I hate those.

That being said, I'd still take the Rolex. IMO that Omega is hideous.

Now, the new Omega Seamaster Diver 300s...Rolex has some catching up to do in the sexy department.

you can always remove the cyclops or get a 114060 / 116600 (but lose the GMT function)

Yeah I've seen vids of the removal. Some say there is always residue. Yes you can replace the crystal entirely. Just wish Rolex would dump it or offer the option. It's a dumb "feature".

It's Rolex's panty line. To me it screams "Rolex", thus I despise it.

On the newer Rolex's if you remove the cyclops there will be an A/R line. On the older ones there is not one. You can use a razor blade to take off any glue after removing it. Or buy a service crystal without the cyclops and exchange it out. Super easy fix.
