I’m finally getting a rack. Looking at a RML 490. I do not want to have to bolt down my rack.

The website states if you get the stabilizer bar with the rack, you do not have to bolt it.

Does anyone here own this rack? Is it stable on its own with just that added bar?

i have the rml390, had always planned on bolting it down but used it for about a week without at first. it definitely moves and flexes.

i had to cut out openings for the feet through my stall mats with my battery jigsaws, that was the biggest pain.  i then used the simpson titen or tapcon version, but after putting 12 anchors in, the thing is rock solid.  no issues whatsoever.

Mine is rock solid with the stabilizer and it's just sitting on padded carpet.

I don't see a need to bolt it down unless you're hanging an 800 pound bar off the front of it or something like that.

In my power-lifting days, I may have squatted 700, but I can’t lift like that anymore.

I don’t plan on going over 405 or maybe 495.

If it's sitting on bare concrete it will probably scoot around a little. I don't think you need to worry about it toppling over or anything though. 3x3 11ga makes for a pretty heavy rack.

I have two layers of 3/4” horse mats to set it up on.

We just took apart and relocated 2 of them. AS noted above, they MAY scoot a little if it's not up against a wall, but it's not going to tip or anything. I'd still recommend a couple bolts, but I hear where you're coming from too.
