Rick Cook https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Cook_ who had written a series of sword, sorcery, and Unix novels, passed away on Thursday.

I just found out from a mutual friend today. Rick had stopped writing fiction professionally, but still did the occasional technology story.

While we were only casual acquaintances, what I remember most about him was that he was just a nice guy. I'm sure he will be missed.
