Subtitled Memoirs of a Tuskegee Airman and POW.
It's the memoirs of a P-51 pilot who on his last mission was the tail end charlie of a flight that strafed some Germans. Being the last in his flight, the Germans were waiting and blasted him out of the sky. He goes to Luft Stalag III and is immediately accepted into a barracks room. Why? They told him that the escape equipment was stored there and that they were worried the Germans were planting a spy among them. Being black, the whites weren't worried about Jefferson being a spy. Anyway, the Germans treated him as they did all other PoWs. When Jefferson was liberated, returning to America and walking down the gangplank, there was a white NCO was directing the officers where to go. "White officers this way. N*ggers that way!" Helluva welcome back to America. Post-war Jefferson remained in the Air Force Reserves and retired as a Lt. Col. He help form the Tuskegee Airman Association.
