The Noblex Glock Sight.  Fits the MOS cutout with no adapter plate.

While this isn’t full integrated into the slide, it’s as far as I’d want to go.  Any more and you’re going to have to take the entire slide out of commission to fix things if the dot goes down.

It's a cool concept I just wonder if you actually gain anything over the setups we see now.

I don't get it. It looks like the main benefits of a RDS are limited in that small of a viewing window.

I'll be honest. I want to see a pop-up RMR-type sight that flips up when you draw, or can be pushed down to use iron sights.

Im certain that it has no advantages, but I has been drinking.

That is cool, but IMHO  they should have made it smooth enough to not snag on things even if it made it larger.

Yep, something I've noticed with the Shield RMS, it's much easier to pick up the dot than with an RMR even though the glass is significantly smaller.

I’m only guessing the sight envelope is as unobtrusive as possible. Maybe the smallish window may not be an issue as long as the (MRDS) frame doesn’t interfere with sight picture(?).

Could it be the top of the slide allows for a more natural presentation, i.e., the end-user picks up on the more substantial top-of-slide as a reference point. From there the end-user makes those small but critical adjustments necessary for proper sight alignment and placement on target?

I have a jpoint that is about 15 years old now and it still works great. It's been in storage. Might throw it onto a winged backup mount on a 45deg angle off the ar10

There's two set screws toward the back, one top center, one on the left.  Just guessing that those are the adjustment screws.

You can cowitness now with tall sights on current setups. I know it’s a bit higher but I’m not convinced that matters much after talking to and shooting with a bunch of USPSA open shooters.

The entire optic needs to be level with the top of the slide.
The future is projection without a glass lens to get damaged.

Window seems a bit too small. The RMR window is small, but still workable...I don't know how well that one will be.

Impact on top of the optic will transfer to the base instead of the glass thus prevent it from shattering easily. Trijicon RMR seems to be the only one to resist glass shattering when the pistol is dropped from shoulder height.

Are RMRs really that much better than irons?
How about while carrying? Does it effect that?

I really don't see what's so wrong with the current crop of slide-mounted dots that this supposedly solves. They're really not that bulky, they don't add size to the dimensions of the pistol that are difficult to conceal, and I wouldn't want a window much smaller than an RMR anyway. It's innovative, certainly, and will be interesting to see how it develops. I suppose I'm just skeptical for now.

What I'd really like to see is more development of frame-mounted, non-reciprocating optics on duty/carry pistols. That's the next step

Kinda neat, I suppose it would make it a little easier to conceal or use in a holster? Doctor Optics makes really good sights, I had their MRDS that I sold to a buddy when I got an Aimpoint. He put it on a scope offset and it's still going strong.

I know HERA Arms had a prototype (for a very short period of time) of a red-dot with a flip up screen, I don't think it ended up being feasible at all but maybe it's a better evolution rather than such a teeny window.

Looks pretty interesting.  Searching around I also see they have a shotgun sight (“5.0 VR”) that appears similar in construction.  They say it has a steel body.

Here’s a vid on the “5.0 VR”

Docter QUICKsight 5.0 VR Red Dot Sight review

ETA: I found a “through the sight” pic here: https://www.av-ase.fi/ase/tuote/noblex-glock-mos-50-moa-punapiste/4022203557804/

No idea what that site says, but here’s the pic

No dot visible though.   Anywhoo, looking through that window, it might not be that bad of a tradeoff in size since the horizontal plane of the slide will help keep you honest in your presentation.

I think the dot does make it easier to hit targets, because it makes it easier to see whether or not you are on target. As for acquiring targets, I'm still on the fence as to whether that's quicker with a dot than with irons. So far I've only played around with RMS sights on friends' pistols, but I have a hard time getting the presentation to be automatic. Of course, it would improve with practice.

As for carrying, I was able to put my buddy's CZ P-10c with RMR into my Safariland Glock holster no problem.

Once you're dialed in it probably doesn't really matter.  But in my experience a lower sight window does reduce the learning curve a bit.

I could believe that.  After watching my friends go back and forth between irons and dots it just reinforced to me that it’s a training issue. Saying that I know that most people don’t train enough to do it well and are better off sticking with one platform.

Yup this is how we get cool stuff. One thing I’d really like to keep seeing is more standardization for the mounting footprint. Eventually then we see more and more factory guns optimized for it.
