I've been wanting to start reading more and it's been hard to carve out the time for it, but due to some unfortunate circumstances recently I find myself with a bit more time to read. So intellectuals of arfcom, recommend me some good books!

I haven't read too many, especially a lot of the classics but I'm open to any suggestions. Anything from motivation or personal growth to reads that inspire deep thought and soul searching, or good fictions. Give me your must reads!

The Centuriouns, by Jean Latreguy. My new favorite.

Rubicon, by Tom Holland. A good, easy to read overview of Rome's switch from Republic to Empire.

Something of Value by Robert Ruark.

A fictional, yet true to history, account of the decolonization of Africa in the 60s as the European powers left and the local marxists took over.

Deliverance by James Dickey. Yes the book that the infamous movie was based off. A great novel about man versus nature and other themes.

As a Man Thinketh by James Allen. Powerful short book about how your thoughts form who you are and affect your actions.

Great book

Along the lines but modern: One Second After, and two sequels.

I did enjoy that one. My wife read it, too, and then read a bunch of his WWII novels.

"The Terminal List" is a great fiction novel about a Navy SEAL whose entire team is killed during a mission, and whose family is also killed by a cartel gang at the same time. The book is about him doing detective work to learn what actually happened to his team since he believes they were set up, and to learn why his family in particular was targeted. The last half of the book is about him going off-grid and dealing justice on everyone involved in the deaths of his family and of his teammates. There's a sequel that I haven't read yet, and a third book that's releasing soon.

And one I just finished.  Cathi Chamberlain is a local conservative writer/activist.  In this book she collates all the tricks, tools, and deceptions used by today's Alinskiites and their complicit media dogs, and offers sound advice on countering their propaganda.  Very well-written and inspiring.

I couldn't get through Cryptonomicon. I enjoyed Diamond Age, Snow Crash, and Seveneves.
