Only the older ones where you could get the V6 as an option.  The newer ones dropped it and only have the 4 cylinder.  I had one of the V6s.  Easy to momentarily spin the front wheels on launch if you aren’t careful.

Pocket rockets.

Should've bought the AWD one.

nice find

it has been my understanding that the un-official reason toyota dropped the v6 in the rav4, is because it had the fastest 0-60-100 times of any other toyota-scion model, and that didn’t bode well for sedan and coupe sales

Virtually bullet proof.

Only things I worked on were water pumps and alternators at around the 100K+ range.

I had an '07. I was great, except it ate water pumps. One at 70K and another around 150k. Not a cheap fix.

definitely would have

but this elderly couple bought a stripped, base model

they only drove it 2 miles to church and it was downhill in both directions

not sure yet how I'm going to deal with the passing gear "handling"

Close.  It was the 91 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo.  The mitsu and Eagle got AWD but just FWD for the Laser. HP to weight was crazy and I burned a few Mustang GT's back then WHEN I could keep the front tires planted. The bigger turbo and intercooler were really overkill but I'm a Texan so......

My 14 rav4 has an annoying amount of torque steer too.  Makes cruise control a serious pain in the ass.
