If I buy bulk or open a canned tobacco, it goes immediately into a sealed jar for storage.  But, is tinned tobacco OK to cellar in the tin, or should I jar it like everything else?  I have been jarring anything in a tin, but I was wondering if it would be OK to leave in the tin.  My collection is getting quite large, and it would be easier for me - space wise - to leave tinned tobacco in the tins, unless it poses a problem.

The round tins are fine for many years in a sealed tin.  The only thing to worry about is rust.  The square and rectangular tins have been known to loosen and open so I'd be less confident about those.

Thanks for the advice.  Most of the tins I buy are some of the Cults and Solanis with a few odds and ends.  Now that McClelland has gone the way of the dodo, I plan on stacking high and stacking deep on some of my favorites, just in case someone else calls it quits.

On a side note, a friend directed me to what people are asking for on eBay for their McCelland blends.  Shit is insane.
