I worked for the state prison system for 22 years and now work in the juvenile system... I have a 20 gallon curved front fish tank that I want to put in my office. I want to do a prison theme... fencing, towers, etc...

All the suggestions have been to get the Walking Dead Prison Set below and throw in there... But I want more fencing and such and don't want to buy more than 2 of these things just for the fencing.

Any ideas or suggestions for materials is what I am looking for.

I've never put decorations in any of my tanks, outside of stone or drift wood I was always afraid that plastic crap would kill mr fish.

Look up chain link fence model railroad on YouTube?

They do it with lace, forget the proper name, and brass pipe.

Are you considering convict cichlids for the tank?

probably something like wedding veil material.
Wire screen/mesh fabric for replacement screen window/door would do just as well.

But I would think that mesh would get gunked up with algae pretty quickly.  maybe the little algae eater/suckers could keep it clean.

You will see the chain link fence I did on my model railroad in this thread:

https://www.ar15.com/forums/General/Time-for-me-to-put-up-or-shut-up-my-railroad/186-2088146/

The lace stuff is called "tulle" (pronounced "tool").  I used 1/16" brass rod,
and made a jig from a scrap of plywood.  After the framework was soldered
together, the tulle glued on, I sprayed it all with silver model paint.  I don't
know if that would harm the fish.

Yes, fiberglass screen would probably hold up better in the long run.

Many years ago I tried putting copper pennies on the bottom of my very first fish tank.  It killed all my fish.

No metal (especially no solder!!).

Convict Chiclids are very cool fish.

“Prison fish tank,” eh?  I expected to learn something new and disgusting in this thread.  A definition akin to”prison wallet.”
