Found this one late fall last year, in the spring I  found three different egg sacks on different trees.

I had never seen one with so much wings.

Any info from others would be great.

Great shot!
What type of lighting did you use to make it so beautiful?

It was just natural light I think the reflection from the yellow lid helped out.

This gal has been hanging around the front garden. Hard to get a decent shot in the wind. Looks like it still hasn’t laid eggs yet so I’m hoping I can find the spot it does and make sure it doesn’t get discarded when I cut the bushes down for the year.

I’ve got some photos of a Devil’s Flower Mantis along with another rather large one from when I was in Africa, just need to find them.

My little contribution: preying mantis on the hummingbird feeder waiting to catch a hummingbird.

Good pics! I wish mine turned out that nicely. OTOH, I tend to do landscapes, barn & houses rather than wildlife.

I presumed the mantis was trying to feed from the feeder. Then all the bird watchers jumped in and warned me that it would eat the hummingbirds (which I found hard to believe). But a very small hummingbird came up to the feeder, and the mantis moved to a strike pose, while the hummingbird tried to stay at the opposite side of the feeder. So I accept that the mantis might be a danger to the hummingbird.
Not wishing harm for either, I got the broom and gently shoeed the mantis off. It came right back, so I did the same, but continued annoying it until it was outside the fence. The funny thing was it was in a stance as though it would try to attack me, too.
I never perceived the preying mantis as being sentient enough to interact like that before.
