Back in the '70s, you'd see these stupid, giant ass Canada's in fields that were portable 2 man blinds.

Could fit a dozen gunners in yours!

Odd, of the 100s of dead stuff pics I have very few of just the scenery. I suspect that had to do with paying more attention to the task at hand (hunting/fishing) than admiring the scenery. Photos were for after the hunt.

You must be an absolute blast at parties.

We all know that hunting is always balls to the wall action, with no time for other activities.

We’ve been there, we get it.

Remember, a large part of the adventure is getting where you are going, and not always the place where you are.

Great point.

When I said that I've been hunting 50 years and only really been taking pics last 5 or 6, maybe it's because I appreciate ALL of it more.

Or, I'm old and tired, and taking pics is just an excuse to stop a few and catch my breath!

For me, hunting is a way to get out and enjoy the outdoors.  To see things I haven’t ever seen.  And hopefully get some meat to take home.

I have been skunked far more times than I have been successful.

But the things I see outside the hunt keep me coming back.

Like the family of otters playing on thin ice, just before 2 .22 shells exploded in my pocket.
Or the saw whet owl that landed on the frame of my tree stand and tried to figure out if he could eat me.
The barrage of goose shit raining down around me when I was fly fishing below a dam and about a thousand geese took flight over my head.
Or watching a litter of rabbits being born 6 feet in front of me.

There are so many things to see while out hunting.

Now with technology, it is easier to snap a pic and keep going without losing too much precious time, or dropping your steely eyed hunter’s gaze from your abundant quarry to appreciate the beauty and stillness that surrounds you.

Just after sunrise on a cold September morning I found this thumb-size humming bird asleep and fluffed up to stay warm on a deadfall I was about to climb over.

What the heck is that?

@JQ66

Good guess, snakehead.

No Pike or musky here but plenty of snakeheads!

My dad passed away in April and I wanted his wedding ring.
He worked for Chrysler for 38 years and at 35 years he got a gold lapel pin and mom had it made into a ring.
I was sitting in the tree stand and it was nice having something that is all bent up and beat up from him always working on something.
