So...pole saws are gonna be a chainsaw on a pole, and some things you can expect are....your cuts will not be as clean. You will leave a lot of ragged stuff on the bottom edge of the cut you make. I have not found a chainsaw blade that will not do this.
Those raggedy things are very bad for the tree, and even with a reciprocating saw with a pruning blade, I'm having a hard time finding a power saw/blade combo that does a great job of pruning.
BUT...
I have to ask...if the oak is big enough that you need a pole saw to reach the cuts, why are you still pruning it?
If you are "topping" it, that's a death sentence for the tree, so I hope you aren't doing that. And I am guessing you are NOT.
What cuts are you making on a young oak that is too tall for you to easily reach for pruning?
