I think that's one of the big factors people notice, even with the actors and actresses posted in this thread. The ones who are overweight and out of shape look significantly older. Similarly, my coworkers who folks think are older than me (despite being anywhere up to 15 years younger) are all overweight and out of shape. ***a shaved head helps too. No overt signs of male pattern balding or graying.  P.S. Being slightly overweight can actually help look younger, in some cases, as the link I posted previously, shows. At the age where wrinkles are evident, a little more fat in the face = less evident wrinkles. The link also showed that especially at older ages, dramatic weight loss can make people look older, due to the loose, saggy skin that results. Being fat/unhealthy all the time, seems to age people more rapidly, though. |

I see plenty of people who look older than their age in the current day. Crappy diets, lack of exercise, and how a person chooses to dress has a big impact. I think the difference is people from the previous generations got a job, married, and settled into adulthood at a much earlier age, so none of them looked younger than their actual age, and many looked older. They were more focused on family rather than trying to look good and get likes on social media.
Of course genetics also makes a difference. Tom Selleck is 77, and his TV dad on Blue Bloods Len Cariou is 82. |

Honestly, without the accoutrements, headgear and beard, you probably do look just as old. Or even older, Especially if they whitened your hair and cropped it back a bit. As you know, those guys were cast, for that specific look. Also, Pictures are deceiving. Some pics you’ll look older, some younger. One other thing: I have bad news about the next few years. . Aging, isn’t cumulative. It’s exponential.

Drinking and esp smoking really ages you fast. My grandparents generation smoked like chimneys since age 15 and drank like fish and all looked 20 yrs older at same age as my gen. |

I would state it goes beyond appearance.
I am closer to 60 than 50. I still run, lift and basically gym rat it. I am not as strong, fast and I don’t recover nearly as good as I did at 30. My dad was blown by 35. Bad knees, shoulder, hobbling around etc. I am 20+ years older and get along better. I have always lived an athletic lifestyle and never smoked. The really sad thing is I am more fit than most who are half my age. |

We both smoked for a while. I was a pack a day for almost 10 years (15-24) and I quit when I got pregnant.
His parents smoked like chimneys in the house/car whatever while he was growing up then he took it up too when we started dating (sorry bro) but he quit a couple of years before I did. So from 20-23 or something like that. Strangers used to stop and lecture me and I'd be like, "I'll be old then anyway so who cares?" |

We just had a thread yesterday that claimed that people are prematurely aging
Some people have always aged better than others. Somone like an Archie Bunker character at 50 years of age in the early 1970s was a depression era kid. Those years were tough on society Half of the population was tied to agriculture in some fashion, That wears a body out prematurely as well. |

Tretinoin (prescription) is the "fountain of youth" You want to look 20 years younger, start at 30 and you always will. You want to take 10 years off, give it 2 years. Sun damage is probably the main reason. It wasn't that long ago really when sun tan booths and sunbathing were all the rage, some people still do it, but obviously it fucks up your skin and makes you more lizard looking at the years go by. Trump for his age imo looks pretty good, and he gets made fun of for it, but the spray tan he uses is likely why his skin isn't lizard'ish which it would be if he sun tanned when he was younger. Smoking is another one but that's been mentioned a few times already.
