We all know it happens occasionally. Just curious what this might be?

Rockwell Turbo Encabulator bearing.  Fairly common part failure.

Could be a cargo system roller of some kind.  It doesn't look "precision" enough to be part of landing gear but there are lots of parts on landing gear that could be that.

Something like this:

They'll figure it out quick if it's landing gear.

Looks like a press in bushing. Maybe from the landing gear linkage.

Looks to be tapered so that would not work on either I don't think.

With nothing for size comparison, my guess is an uplock hook roller.

I can only add that I have those same paper towels at home.

And FPNI. OP, be brave enough. You know what to do.

Rockwell hasn't used those in a long time so would have come out of an old plane if that were the case.

Those circles on the paper towel are about an inch in diameter.

I figured that. It makes me think that part is ~3-4" in height and diameter. I was thinking unlock roller as well, but that's a big one if it is.

Hollow-point slug from the MAX-mm assault cannon found on the Boeing 747. It shoots 87 fully-semiautomatic assault clips per second, and is easily 3D printed by white supremacists using the gunshow loophole.

I don’t want to brag but I am the largest distributor of MD-80 engine parts in SE GA.

That can happen when you have an uncontainable turbine failure that cleans out the F2 section of all the turbine blades and leaves a big hole in the bottom of the engine cowling  that you can see the turbine section through.

I’ll be available for autographs for just a short time, and then I have to go. Sorry.

Yep, all part of the dual overhead high speed gas can delivery system found in some high performance aircraft. The turbo encabulator bearing is found in the tappen blower and is know to bifurcate at times and consequently fall to the ground.

Seriously, no clue.

Given where it fell, this may or may not help. It's really not near enough the flight path or in proximity to a large enough airport for it to be landing gear related as you'd be gear up a long time before (hours) before being near here unless you were a very small plane and even then it would be rate that it would be in that area because of its orientation to the runways.

It would be interesting to figure out what it came from.

7 inches by 5 inches and 7-8 pounds?

That’s one hell of an uplock roller.

This more recent report includes some additional information that suggests it's not from an aircraft.

Bwahahahahahahahaha,

If you landed that pile of parts in ABQ in 2009, then I was likely the mechanic at the door making sarcastic remarks about the quality of the fleet to passengers.

I used to tell flight attendants which aircraft to stay away from, based on the noises the engines were making on start up.   I accurately predicted ship 159 would have an in-flight shutdown.    MX Control called two weeks later asking me about it.   Every time I'd mention a potential problem, MX would spew the old BS of "these aircraft are going into the boneyard in a few months, don't worry about it".   They used that excuse for years.

Look at the picture of the ground.  That object was thrown.  Probably not from some spaghetti armed Antifa twat, but still thrown.

Dude is about 1.5 miles from the airport, I think, say dropped from 800 feet, it is going to be traveling close to 150mph.  Energy would be something around 58,000ft/lbs.  A 50bmg round is around 13,500ft/lbs.
