Are you referring to the 13 yr rye?  Van winkle only bourbon only comes in 10, 12, 15, 20 and 23.

I wouldn't.

Local retail on that bottle is $199.  LotB can be bought around here for $300-$400 and its just as tasty (from dealers who hide it).

Or you can source a bottle of Olde Saint Nick 12yr ancient cask and get virtually the same thing.

PVW is excellent bourbon, but I wouldn't pay secondary market prices for it.

A little over a year ago, my lucky day when I stopped by the local store at the right time. Less that $150 sitting on that table (I know...that wont happen again anytime soon)

I'd pass at that price.  Retails for 79 and can be grabbed for 500 secondary all day. Plus in my opinion just grab a weller12 it's the same thing.

pass.

I wanted some pappy's and finally found some at a whiskey bar in Austin. Wife got me a drink for Father's Day, $50 for a measured shot. That was 15 year. Good but not worth repeating.

then I won a raffle that let me buy a 12 year at cost. Was $80 or something. I savored it over 2 years. It's really good, but not life changing and not $400 better than some of the other offerings.

It's not a Pappy. Pappy starts at 15 year. 12 year is Van Winkle Lot B. Retail is less than $100. Secondary is in the $450 range at most. Over that pass hard.

+1

12 year is “Van Winkle Lot B” - not worth $600. It’s probably $60-100 *IF* you can find it at a liquor store/raffle. Secondary market is well under $600.

As others have said, Weller is all the rage now. I paid $65 for a bottle right before Christmas.

Pass. I’ve had it and wouldn’t pay $60 for it.

Never had it.

no bottle of bourbon can be as good as a new Glock

I have had it, and I have numerous glocks.  Neither are worth $600! (and I am a glock fan)

I have had everything from the 12 to the 21(is that the oldest?????).........12 to 18 are all darn good.

Are they 600 dollar good?  NO!

The grey market has this all fucked up.  Pappy's is a DAMN good bourbon...but it is NOT all that and a bag of chips.  It just isn't.

I would say it's worth about 200 bucks a bottle for the 18 and that is pushing it.  It ain't no Oban 21 Scotch, that's for sure BUT it is a darn good bourbon.

The Lot B is amazing bourbon. But I wouldn't pay that much.

Agree. I had it side by side with W12 and the difference was a slightly smoother finish on the VW. I would buy it at $400 if I could find it

It is all part of the plot to get you to drink it faster.

At that price I will keep looking.

It all depends on what year it is. if its an older stitzel Weller bottle it would be worth that all day long and then some
