Reading about the PACT act and it reads like they want me to sign up during this 1 year 'enrollment period' in case I get a cancer or something on their 'presumptive list'.

OIF 3, out before October 1, 2013.  never applied for any disabilities because I don't have any.

what's the deal with this 1 year enrollment window?  And should I sign up in case I ever get cancer?

I’m going to answer yes.

I was in Desert Storm/Shield; I did several deployments there. I developed cancer years later and it’s something that doesn’t run in my family. In addition I also have several other GI issues that started a few years after I got out and progressively got worse. I use to have a rock solid indestructible GI tract.

I applied under the PACT act and it was a relatively painless process. The biggest hurdle was lighting a fire under my doctor’s butts to get my medical records sent in. It took a little less that five months to get my rating which currently stands at 170% with and there’s still more to go.

Personally, I would apply. Nothing may happen or you may become like me with multiple disorders and no real explanation as to why.

Yes, if you were exposed to the burn pits overseas you absolutely should apply. And if you are not already on the burn pit registry, you need to sign up there as well.
