So if I went up as close as I could get to the Lyons area and asked to volunteer would they put me to work or tell me to GTFO?
Several family members have lost their houses in Mill City already. |

My uncle and his wife had to evacuate. They live somewhere in Stayton. I pray their house survives. They have a beautiful 100+ year old house on a farm right out of a storybook.

The Santiam fires are BULLSHIT!!
I grew up in Salem and spent lots of time on the Santiam fishing, and the Little North Fork of the Santiam swimming. My friend in the USFS, was at the fire in Gates, he said the terrain was so steep, rough with undergrowth, and 2-4 feet of duff that it was too unsafe to put people in there. He got moved to Colorado, now on that real big fire. |

Scott's Mills just got an evac order about 30-45 minutes ago. Daughter lives in Molalla, but they haven't been notified of anything yet.
My parents live out near SE Salem/Turner and they sent me a pic from 11:20 this morning. Red sky, dark like nightfall. I'll try and see if I can upload it. Attached File |

We are blue bird clear here in Central Oregon. The weekend was dense smoke, woke up this morning to clear. But I suspect that we will see that reverse. |

EUGENE, Ore. - Lane County officials say as many as 100 buildings in the Blue River area were destroyed by wildfire overnight - and that even worse news could be around the corner.
"We should expect loss of life from this fire," Steve Mokrohisky, Lane County Administrator, told the county commission Tuesday at an emergency meeting. Mokrohisky said there are no confirmed deaths as of 9 a.m. But a firefighter told county officials that 80 to 100 structures in Blue River were lost to the fire. "We expect that other homes and businesses have burned," he said. The county administrator said heat maps indicated the fire had impacted 55 square miles of land. Heavy winds pushed the fire 13 miles overnight, he said. Around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, a new fire was reported on Forest lands in the McKenzie Bridge area along Highway 126. The fire closed the highway and triggered Level 3 GO! evacuations in the area. Everyone in the corridor from Walterville School east to the McKenzie River Ranger Station has been told to evacuate immediately, a 30-mile area. "Multiple resources including engines and rural fire departments continue response today under a full suppression strategy," the USDA Forest Service said Tuesday morning. "The cause of this fire is also under investigation. Additional fires have been reported in the area." Article |
