Weird ass stupid ass designs are paraded around and folks go nuts over it and the designers make money. But no one in real life dresses like this. Is this short of shit like concept cars. But with fabric by folks that do lines of coke off some Thai ladyboy? If taking acid and this sewing up the visions you see can make money. Hot damn... I can skip the dope and go straight to making shit a blind dog wouldn't wear. View Quote Yes, some of the designs/prints might be toned down and actually make it to the shelves but a majority of the insane stuff is just about having fun/trying to be risky/putting on an entertaining show for the industry people/celebrities that have sit there for 8hrs. It also depends on the brand. Big name brands usually showcase clothes that will make it on the shelves. Their shows tend to be more low key and what you would typically expect to see on shelves. Where as some of the smaller brands treat fashion shows as more of an art exhibit and to get people talking. These brands might not have storefront so they have 15 minutes to get people talking/hopefully taking pics and getting their name out there so they can have more influence in the future (and sell more wearable clothing). There is a method to all of the madness. Since you're interested enough to make a thread, here is a short read about why you see the crazy stuff at shows. https://medium.com/@renaudpetit/why-are-fashion-shows-filled-with-unwearable-garments-c07bfa736cd0 |

How many movies have to be made in which fashionistas are mercilessly ridiculed until they realize that nobody outside of their tiny little fashion bubbles takes them seriously? I mean, I get what you're saying that they're just trying to get people talking, but why would you intentionally make yourself into a rediculous cliche' when you could just as easily become famous by designing cutting edge fashion without dressing like a coked out poodle at burning man? |

Think of it like concept cars. A lot of interior design is driven off of fashion design, details links finishes, colors, and textures are all pulled from the fashion world as inspiration for other areas of design.

I’d agree. I was on a sports site and this popped up as one of their advertisements. It’s sold as a new “hoodie” design...
