After riding/owning/researching many bikes, I've ended up on an Ibis Ripmo (v1) w/ GX build. Absolutely love it. The DW-link is no joke. Coming from mid-to-late 90's hardtails, this thing is the best of both worlds. Long-travel squish, but with a more cross-country geometry.

It really shines on the sandy doubletrack and XC type singletrack. The 3" Knard on the front makes it bearable. If I was doing it again, I'd get the Krampus instead, so I could put a fork with a little more travel on the front. |

These two get the most use out of all my bikes. First is a Specialized Enduro since replaced the suspension with a DVO Diamond D1 and a DVO Topaz. The second is my favorite bike and it's a 2017 Trance 2 and has everything from the factory still. Enduro has 300 hours trance has 1500 hours.

The glorious 2018, Carbon fiber, generation 4 Santa Cruz Nomad. Converted from 170mm travel to 180mm travel with a Cascade Components long travel link and the fantastic Fox Factory 38 fork. Magura MT7 brakes with 200mm rotors. Maxxis 2.5x27.5 wide trail DHF / DHR tires. E13 9T-46T 11 speed cassette. My typical ride is 20-30 miles with 3500 to 4500 vert / decent. This bike is absolutely amazing. Feels like a motorcross bike minus the motor. Attached File

I really like your bike! I want to get a hard tail with 3.0 tires for longer rides. I used to have a fat boy hard tail and it was great but the 4.5 width tires were a bit too big for summer riding.

If you want to do a full blow 1x12, SRAM has the NX group sets for $375 if you can find them in stock. That should be for the cranks, sprocket, cassette. Shifter, derailleur, and chain. The bottom bracket would be another $30.
I personally think it's worth it to not worry about shifting the front, and, having the 50 tooth in the back makes climbing easy. |
