Yes. You don’t need 10 budget ARs. You need NV, silencers and IR aiming.

I want NV but don’t know anyone local with it & refuse to order anything online, sight unseen for $3,000 for openers... Plus I’ve been spending my extra cash on training lately... got a 700 yard class tomorrow... after which I told instructor I need to be able to shoot rope off a mans neck... and then I need the government to go back to hangings so I can supplement my income that way. http://www.winwallpapers.net/w1/2013/09/the-good-the-bad-and-the-ugly-wallpapers-8.png View Quote |

I've been happy with my Gen 3 stuff but now all these WP posts are bothering me. I really don't want to spend more money.

And props to everyone here.
Guys were real generous with their thousands of dollars equipment. So fucking cool. So fucking cool. The pictures you guys posted are awesome, but now I know what you were seeing was even better. I didn't know that before |

I first used PVS-14s 16 years ago. Haven't had the pleasure in 11 years. One of these days if I can get my hands on a non-watered down laser I'll take the plunge. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

@TrojanMan let me check his stuff out. Words do it no justice. Pictures do it no justice. Saying "It's a superpower" comes close, but does not describe it. It's Fucking Crazy. I cannot show you how awesome G3 night vision is on the internet. Videos and pictures will not describe it. I laughed like a schoolgirl. I wish I had the words or the pics, but neither does it justice. It's Fucking Unreal Tho, tbh, I dont see much of a reason considering the FOV on gen3 night vision. |

Don’t come to a cola warrior. No good gear there at all either.

Ok ok now I'm all fired up. What g3 models should I look at to get ball rolling? Looks like it's going to be $3k just to start? Helmet mounted binos would be cool

you can get started in night vision, with used units, like from people on ee.
if you have questions, you can go to the night vision forum with specific questions (give as many details as you can for better answers). you can try ebay, but, as someone in the night vision forum has said, some units have problems, but all units with problems end up on ebay. you could probably get a used older gen 3 unit for about $1500-$1800, then a bike helmet, rhino mount and j-arm for cheap off ebay, to get into night vision, then upgrade as you get money |

I have a pvs-14 and it's amazing, worth every Penney to see at night

I got into the NV game with a green phosphor high end tube in 2013. Last year I upgraded to a WP no film unit. Much less eye fatigue and better picture.
This summer I bought a Triji REAP thermal. Un Believe Able. |

Super over rated. A good white light is a fraction of the cost and just as effective.

A good bellwether is to watch the .mil and upper funded .gov types.
When you see them using digital imaging in place of image intensifiers, that's when you'll know it's about to change. The way the two capture and process light are so different, it's going to take some serious advances to put "cameras" in the realm of head worn for awhile. |
