We expect the switchover to take up to 5 days. During that time, our famous "AR15.com" URL will not be usable. Once the switchover is complete, AR15.com will be fully restored to normal function.

In the meantime, I welcome freedom lovers and firearm enthusiasts to visit us at our temporary URL: www.ar15-backup.com. We will post on the backup site when the normal AR15.com has been completely restored.

This place means a lot to many people. From the short time I have been here, I have seen the generosity of many members. Complete strangers helping out another person in need. That is pretty powerful. The good people out weigh the jerk offs who try to disrupt this place. "Don't let the bastards get to yah." Personally, I like this place because of the interesting topics on all shorts of issues and I have learned so much. Then the hilarious posts in GD. The antics of Piccolo made me laugh so damn hard to folks using thread titles in GD as pick up lines to troll girls on tinder for lulz. When I have some extra cash I want to get a membership.

I'm catching up on this thread (only on page two) and wanted to comment on a few things:

1 - Legal action will be discussed and then decided by attorneys. We feel the lock was unwarranted and improper, but it will be up to other folks to decide on legal action. I really can't comment on this and am focused entirely on getting this place 100% safe.

2 - We moved our domains to EPIK.COM and highly recommend them. We are also discussing creating our own registrar to avoid all of this in the future. (1 less point of failure.) Epik is conservative owned and have our full support.

3 - The domain should be back to normal in a couple days or less. Really hoping it's a 24 hour thing, so lets hope we are back to normal by tomorrow. If not, a few days of this -backup domain and no email.

4 - A little more information for those asking about what is next as well as more on what happened:

We were pulled from GoDaddy earlies today, but shortly afterwards they afforded us another 24 hours so we could move the domain. The domain is pending transfer as we speak. They did not make things easy, but they did become more willing to work with us after a nice hour long discussion with a very polite and professional supervisor there. After that, we were able to reach the proper folks handling the issue and agree to expedite the move of the domain. We are running on the backup domain (https://www.ar15-backup.com) and will be back to normal as soon as we can. (See my comment #3) Once this is completed, we will begin the second part of this mess, which will be to move to alternate hosting.

We plan to keep this site around for years to come, so no worries on losing your home. We will fight for you all, regardless of what is thrown our way.

I want to give special thanks to EVERYONE who was messaging us with offers to help and thoughts on hosting providers and registrars. It's an incredible thing to watch this community, and those out there who support the 1A and 2A, as they come together to solve problems. We have always thought of this community as family and while we have had issues with folks through the years, it's more important to stand together now than ever before.

DNS needs time to propogate across the net. This sometimes takes as long as 24+ hours and as short as 5 minutes. It's most likely the DNS servers you are using. If you change them to something more active, you should be ok getting to the backup domain. Otherwise I'm guessing by tomorrow you should be ok.
