Bought an AP5-P yesterday. Should be at my FFL Tuesday, according to UPS.

Who's got the best price on mags these days?

I dunno, but the six pack of MKE mags from Atlantic come out to maybe $44 each after shipping.

Seemed pretty reasonable, and their shipping has been vy fast for me.

You are rocking the magazine back slightly, correct?

Does it Do the same thing with the grip/trigger group removed?

Correct.

But I think he was asking in comparison to the new ZF5s they are making now.

And I have no idea, havent gotten to mess with a new Zenith yet.

I prefer the MKE to the PTRs but thats more personal preference than anything substantial.

It was fine before I replaced the grip. It got a little better when I removed the pin near the magwell. I am gonna put the old lower back in and troubleshoot. I was hoping the fix was something easy.

Bumping it up - just got that Airsoft stock from that brand and installed it.
Comes with a (apparently real) buffer that you have to heat and insert. Done that, worked like a charm, went in in a sturdy way, love this thang!

(yes, time will tell how sturdy it is and if it self disintegrates or not etc.)

ETA before you guys start asking, here's the link to what it is, where it is

Okay...out of the blue, I got a call last night. 2 Silencer Co. Omega 300's came in. I'd almost forgotten about them.

I e-filed for 2 more and a 9mm obsidian a few months ago. Any reason not to mount an Omega to the AP5 shorty??

The other will be dedicated to a 8.3" .300 BLK.

I’ve named it a “THS” (trunnion heat shield). I made it [out of Kydex] after my 1st trip to the range with the AP5-P. I fired about 220 rounds and the trunnion got very hot.  I don’t like to wear gloves so I had to be extra careful not to touch the trunnion. I couldn’t even place my hand on the magwell.  The THS solves the issue and It snaps on/off easy. Also worked great with my AP5 when it had a slim hand guard.

...went ahead and tested that Airsoft A3 "stock" - my AP5 is a SBR.

Worked like a charm. Added my still in jail SilencerCo Hybrid 46M, tri-lugged.

A charm. Everything runs like a charm.

Brief video, nothing special - just an old guy shooting an MKE AP5 suppressed

ETA ammo was just cheap 115gr range ammo!

When it's extended, any semblance of wobble, up/down or left/right?

I like my MKE A3, but it's damn heavy and the aluminum arms on the VFC stock sound somewhat appealing.

Nothing. No wobble, literally maybe 1mm - on par with my (4 times as expensive) B&T stock (have one brace and one stock as of now, brace going to go up for sale shortly).
Then I have the KES stock as well - on par with both I'd say for a fraction of the price.

Now the question is, will it continue to be working like this or will it slowly loosen up and get undone?

There's a couple of guys around here who have over 2k rounds on theirs and they claim unchanged. As it was... so that's a good thing!

We shall see but still, even considering it can serve only for photo opportunities a-la Die Hard... I'd still buy it again and again!

Thanks.

I just noticed in your last pic, and I think in your video too, your optic rail is not mounted correctly, it's too far back and must be bound against the receiver walls.  The clamping bits should be bearing against those little angled mounts on the receiver.

Absolutely, I agree!

Your forward rail mount is partially blocking your ejection port.

Any FTEs?

Could be a chance the front pin tabs on the new lower have flashing, or are oversized.  Maybe file down the front edge a bit.

Getting ready for a NV run and gun event in a couple weeks.  I'll be shooting my MKE one night.

Shot the Trex Arms 50 round carbine course of fire to knock the dust off a bit.

47.10 seconds, 194 points for a hit factor of 4.12.  35 As, 13 Cs, 2 Ms.  Should have been 1 mike, didn't check mag before last string and had 11 in the gun when I needed 12.  Should have been over 4.5 hit factor if that M had been an A instead.  Woulda, coulda, shoulda.

Ordered a Magpul selector, Pakistani OD green lower, and some matching magpuls last night.

Would be nice if I could find an OD green wide forend...  I suppose I could just paint a black one, but I'd rather not.

Vy tempted to get a Surefire 1000 lumen forend, but they are just so stupid expensive.

The left-hand side scope mount pads are so very slight on my AP5, that I'm doubting their usability.  Really want to mount a RX34 that I have sitting around on it...
