Not only do I not carry a balance or pay interest, they pay me 2% for using the card.

Exactly! I have never talked to anyone who isn't "making money" off their credit card company. They're going to go out of business any day now. You can't stay in business while giving away money like they do.

Sentiment continues to turn negative for the US consumer as the latest warning sign comes from a multi-brand restaurant operator with more than 1,900 full-service locations nationwide. During a Thursday morning conference call, the management team warned Wall Street analysts about "softness" among wealthier households. Darden Restaurants CEO Rick Cardenas said, "We are seeing a little softness versus last year with household incomes above $125,000, and that primarily affects our Fine Dining brands, but it does affect all of our brands." The multi-brand restaurant operator owns Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, The Capital Grille, and five other brands with more than 1,900 locations nationwide. View Quote "The decline in Fine Dining, part of that is driven by incremental costs they have year-over- year. Their pricing is starting to catch up. But also, there was some negative mix. On a one- year basis, there was a lot of negative mix on alcohol. When we look at what's happening with -- at Fine Dining, there is trading down to lower-priced wines and other alcohols on a one-year basis." View Quote |

I haven’t paid cc interest in 30 years. My lifetime cc interest payments are about $187
OTOH, They have paid me $10,000 or more. Guess we can call it even. |

Way more ARFCOMers then are willing to admit. If not a member, certainly family members, friends and coworkers. Most of America cannot afford $1000 emergency payments.

Thanks for reminding me. I put a little over $10,000 on my card that I need to pay off before the end of this billing cycle.

I think my CC rates are 27% and 12%. The former was my first CC ever.
I've never paid a cent of interest though. |

I got really close to carrying a balance for the first time in a decade. I feel bad for the people that already carry a balance to live if they get laid off.

It’s wild. There literally always seems to be an offer out there for 0% for 18 months. So I keep one of those cards to carry balances for any big purchases and then another card for optimal rewards. Just swap em out at the end of the 18 month term. It’s not rocket science

I have no debt besides the 0% interest rate payoff of my knee surgery deductible (+/- $800 balance). All four of my vehicles (F-threefiddy, K5, two motorcycles) are paid for.
Yet I'm still a GD slacker because I don't have a perfect FICO. Fuck me. ![]() |

I only carry a balance on one card and rotate it out every 7 months.

When I was in my early 20s I carried a credit card debt for a year or two as I was getting established and learning how to manage money. I would assume most young folks are in the same boat. If you haven’t figured it out by your mid to late 20s you probably never will.

Quoted: You serious Clark? The merchant pays that. View Quote That is changing. Some places just charge a service or connivence fee that is less or equal to the CC fee. Some charge a CC fee that is equal to what they pay. I’ve seen it range from half a percent to 3-4%. Service related (hvac, etc) have almost always charged a CC fee, some will advertise a cash discount, some you have to ask. Funny enough, when I bought a Rolex last year or the year before, I asked for a cash discount, they wouldn’t do it because of Rolex’s policy, even though they had to pay the 3% CC fee (it wasn’t passed on.) So I made out with my 1.5% cash back. That’ll show’em ![]() The GF now carries around cash, she will not pay a CC or service fee. |

I had a buddy once that only bought Craftsman tools from Sears. He was always buying the newest stuff.
He bragged that he could get everything he ever wanted and it only cost him $35 a month. |
