My wife just removed the zoom lens off of this camera and this fell out anybody know what it is?

Focusing screen. Goes above the mirror. You should be able to reinstall using the brass clip you have pictured.

There will be a small lever that locks everything into place. Note, there is a proper direction for the screen to be installed and it is incredibly easy to scratch.
