New York May Be the First to Ban - and Confiscate - Bulletproof Vests Not Used in the Commission of Crimes
Amid the debate on firearms comes something else apparently contentious: the issue of protective gear. As reported by The Washington Free Beacon, New York stands a chance to become the first state in America to outlaw bulletproof vests. A bill sponsored by Democratic Assemblyman Jonathan G. Jacobson would make it illegal for anyone to sell body armor. In addition: Possession would be against the law. Therefore, per the legislation, any resident with a bulletproof vest would be required to give it to the government within 15 days of the law’s passing. View Quote The big question is why would they want a law abiding citizen to not have protective gear? |

To prove you are not wearing a vest, everyone must go topless.

Shows they really care about kids doesn’t it? No bullet proof vest for you while attending your third world shithole of a school.
|

I guess that's going to really suck if you are an unarmed courier, are worried about a deranged spouse, carry an insert in your school backpack, wear a kevlar motorcycle jacket or want a little extra-protection during hunting season.
Stupid should be painful. Keep voting for commies New York. |

Glad I live in a free state that doesn’t intentional endanger my life.
You folks in liberal states need to get out now. |
|
Geez... whats next. We're all required to wear explosive collars that the government controls?
|
|
|
I'm pretty sure in SC it's only illegal if used in conjunction with a crime. I remember a few years back where a fashion designer was making everyday clothing and back packs with Kevlar liners for the wealthy and their kids. Maybe they need to buy a lobbyist?

So no pre ban vests? What if I make my own?
Seems all they need to do is make possession a a vest during the DIRECT comission of a felony unlawful. Are they gonna ban getaway cars? Face masks? Bags used to haul away stolen proceeds? Electronic comms used in the comission of a crime? Ban lawyers used after the fact in your criminal defense? |

Already illegal in NY as noted in the article... To be clear, the Empire State already has a law against wearing a bulletproof vest in the commission of a crime. |

I want to ban bulletproof vests = I want my subjects to be easy to murder.

Good. This will make it more inviting for liberals to stay, and provide further incentive to conservatives to leave for free states. Sounds like a win/win.
Besides, there's no ammo, so joke's on them. |

I see the NY AG filed suit on NYC PD and NYC admin over how riots were handled.
Good luck NY! |

It says vest so easy solution.
Put sleeves on it It says you can’t sell them or possess them Possess means “have as belonging to one; own” So what if I loan you mine but you don’t own it? What if instead of selling it you loan it or give it to somebody and then they loan you theirs or they trade you something? Words have meaning and ways to skate around them but dumb |

Not that it matters anymore, but the period-correct definition of "arms" in the Second Amendment is "weapons of offense or armor of defense."
Why is the government trying to pass laws that make it easier to shoot the civilians? |

NY state gave me my first vest in 1996.... still have it.
its amazing the laws that get introduced on the whim of someone that is so self absorbed. |

I think this one has been introduced and shot down a few times. I still sent a message out to my senator about it though.

I would have put my money on FL back then. The tables flipped quick on that one. |
