I searched and didn't find anything with "RDP"
Edit: I know people don't like Springfield as a company. I'm not saying anyone should buy this. I'm bringing it up as an odd gun with an unusual feature set (just look at how that comp attaches in the video below, for one) that might be worth discussing on GD. [end edit] I don't like Springfield and vastly prefer feel of the SIG P365 XL to that of the Hellcat, but the feature set on their new RDP is pretty amazing. http://www.springfield-armory.com/hellcat-series-handguns/hellcat-rdp-micro-compact-handguns/ I hope SIG comes out with their own take on the concept, but just the fact that some madman decided to put something like this into production makes me warm and fuzzy inside. |

How can we make a compact pistol less compact..............
Lets hang a big fuckin muffler off the front! |

Where's the Grip Zone? How can I possibly know where to grip it without an explicit Grip Zone clearly marked.

I like everything but the comp on a carry pistol. Truth be told RDS on a carry gun don't excite me either...I don't want to have to check batteries all the time.
I had an SAS with ported barrel, hated the sights, the port didn't do much. |

Factory Roland Special Hellcat I want to see one on a SIG P365XL frame. The Hellcat has too short a grip to really take advantage of that sort of setup. The comp is also a bit silly but it's a very slick method of attachment, one so good I'm not sure why it isn't more common. Self Indexing Compensator Installation |

Quoted: It's a fucking 9mm... what's with the brakes? ffs View Quote For a 9mm that size it might actually help since they can be a bit snappy. Mostly I like that it acts as a thread protector (since I like attaching cans to things they are not practical on) while also adding some utility, small though that utility may be. |

View Quote All of my compact 9 mm's do fine without a brake, if your running a can it's no longer a compact. If your compact has a threaded barrel it already has a (much smaller) thread protector, that thing is a gimmick. A bulky, stupid looking gimmick, but whatevs. |

SA makes some of the best pistols in the world. They are far superior to anything Glock puts out.

They had a winner on the original. This is close to another winner, but would like to see a slightly longer mag and just go ahead and commit at this point. The 3 inch barrel and form factor works great. A 3.8 would work great with a 16+ mag since pocket carry is basically out of the question anyway.

It actually looks like a great feature set. Not feeling the bigass compensator on a gun marketed solely for being small for carry though.

View Quote I didn't need to read their sales pitch to know the pistol had unnecessary features that I see as a hindrance, not advantageous. But to be nice, I headed over to the site to see for myself this attachment method that is so ground breaking, I read right up to the word 'PROPRIETARY" which is where I lost interest, sorry. |

My worry is that the comp is going to defeat the functioning of the gun. I've played with a comp before, and it was difficult to get to run right.

The coolest part of this release is that they are already shipping to dealers. I work at a Springfield distributor and we have already had these pass through. I had one in my hand for a bit, pretty cool little gun.

As it stands, Springfield Armory can die in a fire. |

That combo is very nice in my experience. It's pretty much my perfect IWB carry gun. |

I'm happy with mine, and my Hellcat in general. I do NOT see the need for the comp on a carry gun though. I do not find it hard to handle at all and followup shots are quick and easy. At least for me. I'd rather save my hearing a bit. |

Quoted: IDK Ain't like it's a 460 Rowland, 454 Casull or 500 S&W View Quote Only thing I can think of is they are trying to get first time shooters comfortable with handling a "snappy" pistol that is small enough for the average Jane and Joe to carry with minimal discomfort and inconvenience. Like it or not, we need these types of initiatives to get new shooters involved and grow the pool of like minded individuals. Regardless of what GD leads everyone to believe, we are all on the same team, and growing our team is a good thing. |
